This scheme of work is designed to be used with Year 7 but could easily be adapted to older students. The scheme of work is accompanied by several PowerPoints, both reading and writing assessments, and many differentiated activities. The SOW begins by prompting students to research the social, historical, and biographical contexts of The Tempest, then moves onto a guided reading of the plot (the focus is on the story for younger students), then an analysis of key scenes and an introduction into Shakespearean language. The SOW finishes with thematic and character investigations, and then ends with the option of six different assessments.
