This lesson plan aligns with Oklahoma academic standard K.GM.1.1, in which students will recognize squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles, and K.GM.1.2, in which students will sort based on shape, size, and color. Included are flashcards and sorting activities. Students will sort the shapes according to similarities, which may vary from student to student. Allow them to use their imagination and explain similarities and differences among shapes. This will make a fun center activity!
