Translating Qatal: The Qatal verb expresses an 'anterior' relationship, i.e. it speaks of an action that occurs before something else in its context. Common English translations of the Qatal verb: 1. *Past Tense ('he heard') 2. Present Perfect ('he has heard'). 2. Past Perfect ('he had heard). 3. Future Perfect ('he will have heard').
