Few tasks related to Water on there - that's our Inquiry Unit for this term.
A variety of worksheets based on different fairy tales, such as 'The 3 little pigs', 'Cinderella' and 'Frozen'. Several literacy tasks including analysing characters from the stories, and writing a spell for the Fairy Godmother.
Also included are a couple of worksheets for simple science experiments - one is a materials investigation based on 'The 3 little pigs' and the other is the 'Frozen Ice Bunnies' experiment, where we used rabbit-shaped sand moulds to create 'ice bunnies', which were assigned to 'Frozen' characters and placed in different places around the classroom on paper towels, then we measured how much they melted over time by measuring the patches of water on the paper towels.
This resource has been designed as a cross-curricular resource for KS2 & KS3 children. It combines a non-fiction text and an Art scheme of work that can be teacher led or completed independently. Pupils are; within a six-session [half-term] scheme of work, sensitively guided through Van Gogh's struggle with mental illness and his eventual suicide. Pupils are challenged to make a range of practical responses to various art works using a range of materials and techniques. New skills are explained and explored as the work progresses including the investigation of colour theory and mixing. The work has been illustrated throughout by images from Open Clipart.
The Life and Work of Claude Monet has been designed as a half-term unit of work. It chronicles his life and his place in the Impressionist movement. There are six sections; each section explores some of his most famous works of art and culminates in a practical response where a range of skills and techniques are developed. The unit can be used independently by individual pupils or completed as a whole class exercise. It encourages independent reading and can be used as a non-fiction reading text - particularly suitable for supporting older SEN pupils. All illustrations in this unit of work are by 'Openclipart' creative commons.
Line drawings of Wallace & Gromit's Cracking Contraptions for use with explanation texts. I traced these myself, from screen captures, for use with a Year 4 class, for them to annotate and label, for use with writing explanation texts.
Suggested lesson plans and checklist included.
