This is a complete medium term plan for the KS2 science topic of light. I have adapted it from a few different sources including Hamilton, TES, various websites and my own noggin. It makes reference to both skills objectives as well as knowledge objectives and indicates prior and future knowledge. Most of the lessons involve some form of practical experiment or inquiry that focuses on a specific scientific skill. I have also included all the resources- hopefully it will save some people some time!
I have similar lesson plans for all topics in all year groups 1-6. If you like this resource then let me know in the comments and i'll upload them. :)
Somebody sent me this unit of work last year on another planning grid - I've only added it to my school format. It was very detailed and had lots of information but I have edited and tweaked it a little to make it easier for me to work from. I do not take any credit for this but thank the person who passed it onto me!!
This powerpoint explains scale and links this to how measure distances on a map, through a step by step giuide through the process. In addition to the PPT there is a distances work sheet with seperate answers that get increasingly difficult and recap other key skills, such as 4 and 6 figure grid references..
This is a more interesting alternative to textbooks to help students learn about the five stages of the Demographic Transition Model.
Give out the note frames (in A3) and then have students rotate the information about each stage around - this is a 'market place' style activity, but moving the sheets is easier than moving students!
Each stage also has information on a case study country. These were chosen to align with the popular Nelson textbook, so absent students can copy up with ease.
I would welcome feedback on how the resources could be improved!
