I´m Cindy from Leipzig, Germany. I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. I want them to be CAPTAINS! (And I want coffee!) My teaching resources are all designed to enable students to USE the language. This is why you will always find the communicative approach in my resources - even simple crosswords come with ideas for speaking activities. All of my resources have been tested in class and will be updated regularly. Please rate my resources to help me build a reputation among millions of resources. Thanks for working with me ☺️ Cindy ❤️ Please see my other resources, too: [https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/CindyKuehne]

Primary Writing Curriculum Coverage Checklists! (Year 1-6)

Primary Writing Curriculum Coverage Checklists! (Year 1-6)

These checklists provides an academic overview of the writing curriculum content to be covered year-by-year from Year 1-6. I provided these to teachers in my own school, who marked the individual elements of the curriculum as they were covered (their aim was to ‘tick’ each element twice over an academic year). They have found it extremely useful, as it offers a useful breakdown of the curriculum statements into the individual components to be taught, which is not always as self-explanatory as one would assume! It is broken down into Composition, Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling, and Handwriting sections. Please note that the spellings listed are indicative of the patterns to be learnt - it is not the exhaustive list. Furthermore, the composition section details our interpretation of what needs to be covered over a year, some schools vary from this. For this reason, the document is provided in Word, for easy editing. It is also provided as a PDF, to prevent formatting issues between computers. Hope that this proves helpful to you too!

Initial 'R' resources linked to Colourful Semantics

Initial 'R' resources linked to Colourful Semantics

This is a little pack to concentrate on the sound 'R’ It can be used in one to one Speech and language sessions or as a classroom resource. I know that laminating and cutting out takes a long time but once done they will be a really useful. I like rounded corners as it makes the cards more tactile. I have a corner curved punch which makes this job really easy. I have also popped a few adjectives and verbs in to extend the activities.

Guided Reading and Fine Motor Planning for Reception

Guided Reading and Fine Motor Planning for Reception

I use this planning to support my daily ‘guided reading’ sessions for my reception class. I used this planning in Autumn Term 2, so I have focused on reading, communication and language and physical development objectives (taken from Development Matters). I split the objectives into three groups to suit my class, but the table can be edited to suit a different cohort. Objectives and ELGs can also be added throughout the year. I will also add some of my tricky word and spelling practise resources to my TES shop soon. :-) Please note - the TES preview looks a little different, see my picture preview for how it will look when you download.

Templates for Marking Spellings by their Syllables

Templates for Marking Spellings by their Syllables

Ten spellings may consist of thirty syllables and it is much more rewarding to gain 15/30 than 1/10. Not only is this great to boost confidence but students soon appreciate the value of learning their prefixes and suffixes. Students can see the same mistakes in different words. Syllables are small manageable chunks to learn, once learned they are transferable into hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of words. These are large font to make laminated dry wipes. Alternatively I print two pages onto A4 landscape, to go into the Lexicology A5 workbooks. Attendance letter: Improve attendance and PA (Pupil Premium, FSM, SEN, Boys)

This letter is to be used every half term to give parents a snap shot of where their children currently are. This gives parents and children an emotional buy in as it compares them to their friendship group in a graphical format. The idea to present the attendance data in a graphic format helps combat the barrier of poor parental literacy levels. The letter can easily be changed into a mail merge to make the process more efficient. This letter can also be used to ‘nudge’ the top end. Resource includes: An adaptable letter A dynamic chart creater to help present your attendance data more effectively Attendance pamphlet for parents and script to be used in attendance meeting Law and legal duty on attendance This strategy in combination with attendance postcards has improved attendance in my setting by 3% since last year and PA by 13%.
