Dinosaurs and Birds - Overview of the Dippy on Tour resources for 4-7s

Dinosaurs and Birds - Overview of the Dippy on Tour resources for 4-7s

Aimed at children aged 4-7, our pick-and-mix collection of cross-curricular activities and facts will enrich Science, Maths, English, DT, Music, Drama and PE lessons. Use them to give an introduction to Dippy, dinosaurs, and their similarities with birds, their closest living relatives. From early 2018 to late 2020 the Natural History Museum’s iconic Diplodocus cast, Dippy, is on a Natural History Adventure across the UK. Dippy on Tour: A Natural History Adventure is an exploration of the UK’s natural history past, present and future. Dippy is a catalyst for exploring different aspects of the natural world along the eight-stop tour to museums and cultural hubs. The Natural History Museum exists to inspire a love of the natural world and unlock answers to the big issues facing humanity and the planet. More than five million people visit the sites in South Kensington and Tring every year, and the website receives over 500,000 unique visitors a month. It is a world-leading science research centre, and through its unique collection and unrivalled expertise it is tackling issues such as food security, eradicating diseases and managing resource scarcity. Dippy on Tour is brought to you by the Natural History Museum in partnership with the Garfield Weston Foundation, and supported by DELL EMC and Williams and Hill.

Winter Olympics 2018 Lesson/Assembly Presentation

Winter Olympics 2018 Lesson/Assembly Presentation

LAST CHANCE for a fruitful discussion on what the 2018 Winter Olympics have been about. Help your students to improve their understanding of the different event categories; why the emblem is the way it is; and why there is a white cat with stripes. Go through this interesting interactive PowerPoint presentation, which is informative and has links to 24 short videos that show you top athletes performing in each of the sports. If they have been watching the Winter Games, your students will probably tell which videos to show. Some of these videos are amazing . We've watched Elise Christie succumb to the perils of Short-Track Speed Skating, but have you seen Steven Bradbury unbelievable Gold Medal win in the 2002 Olympics – it really was a matter of Last Man Standing! The topics covered within the presentation include: Location and dates, Venues and the stadiums The emblems and mascots The events and their pictograms. Note that the presentation contains interactive buttons which allow you to jump to different parts of the presentation and then return. My recommendation is that you go through the presentation slide by slide until you get to the information on the venues. From here, I recommend that you select the particular sports that take your interest. If you have a live Internet connection, then watch some of the videos – especially the ones that I’ve labelled with 5-stars. If you like this presentation then please leave a review.

IB Learner Profiles PE Display

IB Learner Profiles PE Display

PE specific posters of the IB Learner Profiles to place on your gym wall. I used these to great effect in my lesson plenaries, asking children to sit under a learner profile which they had exhibited in the lesson, and getting them to explain why/how. The pictures are probably a little outdated now, as I made this resource in 2011. They are from Google Images also, so not mine. Feel free to update and change them to your own, or keep them the same!
