Early Years Cursive Handwriting Worksheets for 5 - 7 years: Pirates, Foundation & KS1

Needing to teach children to write clearly formed cursive letters? This resource combines teaching children about pirates with letter writing practice. If a child cannot draw the letter patterns needed to form letters they will be unable to write legibly. This handwriting pack solves that dilemma. They think they are learning about pirates by drawing pirate bunting. They are in fact… developing their cursive writing skills by drawing 8 different letter formations. It helps children in Reception, Years 1 to 2, meeting the UK curriculum needs of Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 to develop: • Letter formations and joins • Establishing handwriting movement patterns • Starting and finishing points • The correct direction to follow Created by myself, I use occupational therapy techniques to improve a child’s writing throughout the pack by using a developmental process. Every page naturally progresses the skill of writing. It starts with how to sit and hold a pencil and then progresses to drawing letter groups. The best bit is that they have no idea how much this resource is improving their handwriting as they are interested in learning more about Captain Blue Eyes, pirates mate, messages in a bottle and treasure maps. I use it and I know it works You do not need to think of anything as it has been done for you! Just print out and use. There are 8 pages of worksheets and guidance notes. Suitable to whole class, small groups and 1 to 1 sessions. * This is a section of the Handwriting Worksheets for 7 -11 years: Success with Pirates For full details follow this link: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/handwriting-worksheets-pirate-themed-uk-version-11103525 In that resource a child is shown how to sit, hold a pencil and position the paper. Animal - Short term memory game - powerpoint - based on Kim's Game

Animal - Short term memory game - powerpoint - based on Kim's Game

Simple to use. Show the child the screen with 4 pictures. Click to the next slide which is blank. Can the child recall the 4 pictures? Let the child guess. Show the answer. Tips 1: always support your child in naming each animal, as this will increase vocabulary. Tip 2: you may want to be in control of the mouse. Tip 3: wait until the child you are working with is happy to move on to the blank screen, when he/she thinks they have memorised the pictures. Tip 4: if the child is really struggling, try visualisation, verbal rehearsal, and making up a story of the animals in order (links). This may help recall.

Phonics Letters & Sounds phase 4 - promethian and Notebook & Plans for 4 weeks nothing else needed

Phonics Letters & Sounds phase 4 - promethian and Notebook & Plans for 4 weeks nothing else needed

Free week for week 1. The other weeks are available for download too... No other resources needed except whiteboards and pens. Saves hours making cards and laminating. Ideal for class teachers or cover/supply walking in to lessons. Each presentation has at least 20 slides and has huge variety to reinforce or progress through quickly depending on your children. Promethian and Notebook versions. I am an outstanding teacher with over 25 years experience. I hope this saves you time ... :) x Please leave me a lovely review or any suggestions you would like me to change. I put week 3 and 4 into only 1 Promethian/Notebook file for each week as having used weeks 1 and 2 after making them I found it a pain to keep opening separate files if I hadn't finished them the previous day. Let me know which system you prefer or any other changes. But if you like them please rate my resources so they get higher in the searches, after you have tried them with your classes.

Letters & Sounds phonics phase 4 - week 3 - all you need - no other resources needed

Letters & Sounds phonics phase 4 - week 3 - all you need - no other resources needed

Everything you need to walk into a phase 4 phonics session week 3 (two syllabic words) and review of week 2 with tricky words. All activities only need white boards and white board pens. Part of my series of presentations for phase 4 which can be purchased as a pack or just weekly if you are already half way through. I am developing these resources as I go. These are ideal for supply teachers or teachers who hate cutting and laminating. There are a nice balance of different activities each day/week and the principles of sound, word and sentence and then text is used to ensure progression. Pupils are both expected to read and write the sounds/words to ensure progression. Enjoy your Sunday. Thanks - if you are happy with the time saved please leave me a lovely review:)

Phase 4 Letters & Sounds phonics - all you need to teach week 4 & assess - great for supply!

Phase 4 Letters & Sounds phonics - all you need to teach week 4 & assess - great for supply!

Week 4 covering all the work covered so far with plenty of opportunity to apply and use in writing sentences. You do not need any resources. I developed this as I was doing cover and being swapped groups and as soon as had all resources for one phase, ended up needing to make another. So.... all you need are the notebook or Promethian depending on your software, whiteboards and pens - you don't have to take resources not knowing what phase you will be covering as a supply or cover supervisor/leader covering classes. You can buy all the weeks in a pack, saving you money too. I'm a teacher with 25 years experience including as SEN advisor and Academic Vice Principal, judged consistently outstanding. All this has almost exhausted me so I'm sharing my resources to save you all the time and effort... and to help me retire at some point before 67 :) Happy Sunday Fellow Teachers.

Detective Handwriting Worksheets

Detective Handwriting Worksheets

This Detective themed handwriting workbook for five to six-year-olds helps them to learn correct letter formation by teaching them great pencil control skills by accurately following arrows. These 12 activity sheets focus on how to write the letters of the alphabet in a cursive style. Your children take on the role of a detective as they learn how to correctly write all the capital letters of the alphabet with guidance arrows. They will then progress on to writing them without the arrows before being able to write them on their own. The second part of the handwriting workbook helps them to develop lower case letters in the same way. Please note, the design follows the UK method of learning cursive handwriting where only the lower case letters are in the joined up style.
