Hard engineering is the initial focus of the lesson, in which pupil use information sheets around the room to collect information and complete table worksheet. A consolidation lesson for KS3 about the causes, effects and responses of flooding. Pupils can watch a video and then do challenge grid activity (on ppt) where pupils are awarded different number of points (based on how difficult the questions are). Red = 3 points (easiest Qs), yellow = 5 and green = 10. This activity had been very successful in creating competition and motivating students.

Students are asked to explain the causes of the Big Freeze and analyse its social, economic and environmental impact. This presentation goes right back to basics about the Global Circulation and gets as far as identifying the three cells that comprise the global circulation.
