Materials: German Vocabulary Card Sort

Materials: German Vocabulary Card Sort

This is a card sort to help students learn words for materials (20 words in total). This would be a useful task with younger groups or low ability groups. There are three separate files, depending on how you want to present the task.- The 'teacher copy' shows a grid with all items already matched. - The 'student version' is a random layout, print this out and give to students. They can then cut out the items and match them, or stick them into their workbooks.- The 'quick cut' is designed so that you can produce 10 packs of cards quickly and easily using a guillotine. Each page has the same card 10 times over. This allows you to remove words that may not be suitable or needed.

MFL, ICT Writing Activity: Chain Story

MFL, ICT Writing Activity: Chain Story

I covered a Year 9 ICT Lesson and this was the activity so I thought why not use in MFL! The mixed ability group were all engaged. Thought it would work well for talking about Holidays, daily Routine or maybe arranging to go out Conversation.

Triggered animations in Open Office Impress

Triggered animations in Open Office Impress

Series of tutorials using Impress (sorry for wrongly labelling this as Powerpoint previously) to create a quiz that uses triggered animations and sounds recorded by students. Ideal exercise for combining ICT with Languages. I must apologise to any French teachers in advance for me poor attempts at speaking the language!!

German biscuit recipes: language club activity

German biscuit recipes: language club activity

Two delicious recipes with quite simplified instructions in German - this was a fantastic cross-curricular activity. We spent 20 minutes looking up the vocab and working out what we had to do, and then we made the biscuits in the school kitchens and listened to Christmas music. Great as a festive after school language club activity.
