Statistics 1 (Edexcel) Revision

Statistics 1 (Edexcel) Revision

Here is my power point trying to structure questions for S1 from past papers. I have split the paper into 5 sections and tried to group questions together. All solutions are given at a click. For use by giving to pupils and leaving them to it, or working through topics as a class. Every question from 2006-present. Also works extremely well on iPads.

Correlation and scatter plots

Correlation and scatter plots

This resource can be spread over 2 or 3 lessons depending how deep you want to go into correlation. Lesson 1 will cover the basics. I use lesson 2 in the PowerPoint more like a mini project but can be skipped if required. Lesson 3 is more based on higher level thinking trying to find the equations of lines of best fits and use extrapolation.

Statistics: Scatter Diagrams

Statistics: Scatter Diagrams

This is a whole lesson on scatter diagrams. It includes a starter, key words, lesson objectives, some excellent clear teaching examples, a worksheet and a help sheet to help the less able during class. The help sheet went down very well when being observed. The worksheet is only a couple of questions, but it does come with answers. After that I like to use any spare time to think about the context of the question and writing conclusions to further improve understanding and applying maths in real life.NOTE: Feel free to visit my shop for more excellent resources on data handling or statistics. They are geared up for the Maths GCSE, IGCSE, Stats GCSE and S1 at A-Level. If you do purchase then please leave feedback, it is really helpful. thanks.

Statistics: (S1) Regression Lines and CODING

Statistics: (S1) Regression Lines and CODING

This presentation contains a whole lesson! Specifically this lesson is for teaching ... what a regression line is, to understand its links to real life situations and calculating a regression line for a given set, including using coding. I have used the PowerPoint slides to structure the lesson, from beginning to end, including a starter and plenary, lesson objectives, examples etc... I have found both this PPT to be a very effective way of getting ALL pupils to understand regression lines and be able to calculate them as well as understand coding. NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thanks.

Statistics: (S1) Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PMCC) + Resources

Statistics: (S1) Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PMCC) + Resources

This is normally a lesson that I do over one double period (1.5 hours). Recently UPDATED!!I have used the PowerPoint slides to structure the lessons, from beginning to end. It comes with a starter (quick look back at scatter diagrams) and then onto what the PMCC is finding and why it is important. A look at the different ways to calculate the formula (same as for the variance) with a working example for the pupils to go through. I have also attached a Edexcel spreadsheet to go through the table with the pupils. The PPT does include additional questions, because Ex. 6B in the S1 course companion is excellent on this chapter. If you do however need some questions, I have included as well some past exam questions that you can use instead. I often use this for HWK. NOTE: Feel free to visit my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and please rate and feedback on any purchases. thanks.
