Vector Addition and Subtraction

Vector Addition and Subtraction

Students learn how to perform vector addition and subtraction using column notation. As learning progresses students begin to use vectors to define and prove geometrical properties. Lesson comes with a Vectors worksheet.Differentiated Learning ObjectivesAll students should be able to use vectors to describe the position of one object in respect of another. Most students should be able to use geometrical properties of parallelograms and trapezia to add and subtract given vectors. Some students should be able to prove the geometrical properties of shapes using vector addition.

Geometry and Measures Crosswords and Word Searches

Geometry and Measures Crosswords and Word Searches

All my crossword and wordsearch resources on the topic of Geometry and Measure. Between them these crosswords cover the Geometry and Measure terminology students need for higher tier GCSE. I use the AQA spec but other exam boards require very similar vocabulary.

Geometric Drawing and Invariance Vocabulary Wordsearch and Crossword.

Geometric Drawing and Invariance Vocabulary Wordsearch and Crossword.

This is a crossword and word search with further shape and measure vocabulary (covering drawing, constructions, symmetry and translations). It is aimed at higher tier students and would be useful as - revision- lesson starter - settling activity- cover work- end of term activity- extension task- literacy support for EAL or SEND students- literacy across the curriculum- assessment for learning or afl taskContains printable pdf and answers for the crossword and wordsearch. For differentiation I have included a wordsearch and a crossword using similar vocabulary. The wordsearch is easier. The learning objective is to introduce or revise shape and measure vocabulary in a fun and relaxing way. This activity could be used at the start of a topic to introduce key vocabulary by having students fill out as much as they can independently and then check their answers and fill in the gaps using the answer sheet provided. Once students have all the answers they can save the crossword to refer to during the course as a useful list of vocab and definitions. This would help students with dyslexia to spell the vocab correctly and would enable all students with high language needs to refer back to the definitions as required to allow them to access later lessons. After filling in the crossword students could be asked to annotate the crossword with examples or mnemonics for the vocab to aid understanding and recall. This activity could also be used for revision where students might complete several crosswords in a lesson or for homework. They would work at their own pace to identify areas where they need focus their revision. This activity is for teachers, tutors, special needs teachers, teaching assistants, after school club organizers and parents or students looking for revision activities.

Catch Up Questions - Geometry

Catch Up Questions - Geometry

This is a booklet of 40 worksheets that can be used for either revision, homework or those students who have missed work with each containing a QR code that will scan to a short tutorial video. It is designed to cover the entire GCSE geometry curriculum. I have tried to order the sheets in a logical way, although not necessarily in "difficulty" order, the topics are grouped. Answers are provided.

Vector Geometry and Analysis homework or revision resource

Vector Geometry and Analysis homework or revision resource

This resource is accompanied by an answer document. It is aimed at students who have been taught to understand vector geometry and vector analysis. Students are required to work with column vectors and vectors expressed using letter notation, to understand parallel and perpendicular vectors, to calculate lengths and angles between vectors, to express unit vectors, and to apply an understanding of vectors within a range of geometric contexts. A grading system based on the new GCSE specification is suggested, but this resource would be equally useful in the US. The paper can be printed onto a single A3 folded sheet and there are a total of 60 marks. It can be used as a homework or a revision resource, or to assess general understanding at the end of the topic with plenty of extension and differentiated content available.
