Term 1: Y8: Health & Wellbeing

Term 1: Y8: Health & Wellbeing

A unit of work ready to teach from September 2017. This will be the first time I have added assessment without levels into the PSHE curriculum. This unit of work has planned homework, an assessment and a project. I have included a scheme of work that included cross-curricular, literacy/numeracy, assessment and homework opportunities. I have included the PSHE Progress Passport. Term 1 is completed, but Term 2 and 3 are blank. When I plan the next two units I will continue to add to the passport and upload it with the next units. Please leave feedback as this has taken me a lot of time to put together.

Theatre in Education Small Project

Theatre in Education Small Project

A small project about Theatre in Education I used with my Year 9s in drama this year. Would be good to use with PSCHE as well. Gives students a chance to look into how TiE works and create their own TiE company. The presentation and two sheets I created are added and can be amended. During the first lesson they create their company and create a script/performance. In lesson 2 they look at funding a company and creating a letter to schools to get their support and backing. Really engaged the students... I used some music from The Apprentice and did a lot of acting throughout where they were judged by a 'panel' of other students pretending to be schools or companies that were looking into hiring their company for PSCHE days.

KS1 & KS2 PSHE 20 x Full Sessions [COMPLETE SET] - High Quality - Philosophy Boxes Method - P4C - SMSC: Body Changes, Growing Up, Puberty, Community, Citizenship, Conflict Mediation & Resolution, Differences & Similarities, E-Safety & Cyberbullying, emotional wellbeing and mental health, family, friends, financial awareness and managing money, jobs, cereers, healthy living, harmful substances, moral and spiritual development (SMSC) identity and awarenss [A P4C Debates & Discussion approach to KS1/KS2 PSHE]

The download comprises 20 X PSHE lessons/sessions that can be used multiple times with the same group. The method uses a selection of debate and discussion activities to explore PSHE issues for KS1 and KS2 students. This download is designed to be a significant component of any primary school's PSHE provision. A demo of the method can be found here: https://goo.gl/DrcSqv [though the content is not relevant to PSHE, it shows how the approach works] The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to P4C designed for students in KS1, 2 & 3: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind. In this context: 'Philosophy Boxes' represents a more student-centred 'debate & discussion' approach to PSHE issues. The aim of Philosophy Boxes is to bring philosophy and critical thinking into every subject at every level: we believe that any subject becomes philosophy when students are asked the right questions and when they think about a topic hard enough and on the deepest (most fundamental) level. The Philosophy Boxes Method presents students with a set of 'mystery boxes', when a student selects one of the boxes they are presented with 1 of 21 discussion/debate activities [that use 1 of 8 different formats]. The presentation has integrated AfL so that teachers can test knowledge at any point in the lesson. There are 10 different AfL slides to choose from. The design is colourful, animated, fun and engaging: all activities require movement and teachers can decide whether students are expressing their ideas purely verbally or by using post-it notes. The nature of the design is that it can be used for short sessions (5-10 minutes) or much longer sessions (up to 2 hours!) - it allows for classroom practitioners to be flexible and adaptable. It can, therefore, be used in lessons or as a tutor-time activity. The download includes a PowerPoint Show; if you would like an editable PPT presentation so that you can make your own 'Philosophy Boxes' presentation you will need to download the template here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-the-philosophy-boxes-method-template-for-creating-your-own-philosophy-boxes-lessons-p4c-p4k-11463227 A complete selection of Philosophy Boxes lessons can be found here: https://www.tes.com/resources/search/?&q=philosophy+boxes+godwin86 This PSHE course is based around the topics listed on the BBC Bitesize Resources for KS1 & KS2 PSHE (their content can be used alongside these resources to bolster your PSHE provision, though this download does not require additional preparation or resources) [http://www.bbc.co.uk/education/subjects/zqtnvcw]

Series of lessons on Advertisement and Logos

Series of lessons on Advertisement and Logos

Attached is a series of lessons that I delivered for Yr.9 students with SEMH needs, these lessons were used in preparation for them embarking on the Tenner Challenge. In these lessons the students begin to look into the purpose of advertisements and logos and then move on to design their own advertisement and logo. This was a very successful unit in which students design their own product/service to make a profit, develops skills in literacy, numeracy. PSHE and teamwork.

Multicultural Bundle

Multicultural Bundle

I have created presentations about different aspects of living in harmony with other people from other nations. It is great for harmony day and also the International Day For The Elimination Of Racial Discrimination. I have included a range of different presentations of different countries around the world. You are able to compare and contrast lives in other places. I have included stories from India, as this is the largest ethnic minority in the UK, and I thought it would be nice to see the differences and similarities between the two countries. I have also included 2 presentations about the Brexit (Brexit Conversation Ideas and International Day For the Elimination of Racial Discrimination - which covers Britain pre- and post Brexit and its crime rates).
