Living In The Arctic

Living In The Arctic

The polar opposite of living on a tropical island, the idea of living in the arctic is not most people’s idea of home. With no vegetation or natural shelter it is hard to believe that some do call this landscape home and overcome the harsh conditions. These worksheets and activities look specifically at The Inuit People

Antarctica - Desert At The Bottom Of The World

Antarctica - Desert At The Bottom Of The World

Antarctica is called a desert due to its low precipitation, which is primarily snow. Annually, the coastal regions receive about 200mm, while in the mountains and East Antarctica plateau can get less than 50mm. Due to the low average annual temperatures of -50oC there is less evaporation than a hot desert so the snow has built up over the years. There are also strong winds of up to 200mph. These worksheets help students develop their discriptive, sensory and research skills as well as look into the problems caused by the increasintg number of tourists visiting the area. Ways to reduce these impacts are disgust in addition as to whether the students think Antarctica should be protected or not.

KS3- Geology

KS3- Geology

As a decision I have made, over the cost of resources on TES and the understanding that teachers do not get paid enough for the work we do I am making this resource and all others I upload free of charge so that you can use them to inspire and teach students. I spent hours producing and then redeveloping a full scheme of work (11 lessons). These lessons were taught to year 7, but would be suitable for any KS3 year. The lessons offer a variety of activities, challenges and resources that are aimed at increasing students interest, skills and knowledge. There are literacy, numerical, graphical, skills, location and social challenges for the students to attempt. This scheme of work comes with eleven full lessons (1 hour long), all the work sheets, activities and resources included. The lessons are- L1- What is geology L2- How old is our world L3- What are rocks L4- What is the rock cycle L5- What are weathering and erosion L6- Rock and the landscape L7- Extinctions L8- Fossils L9- Welcome to the ice age L10- welcome back to the ice age L11- Assessment
