PRIMARY SPANISH - 80 ANIMALS GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

PRIMARY SPANISH - 80 ANIMALS GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AND LEARNING ANIMALS IN SPANISH! SPANISH ANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of SPANISH. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in SPANISH too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with SPANISH, to identify cognates and to begin to link spelling with sound in SPANISH. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic ones. Along the way, children may even get to know some new animals! There are 80 CARDS in total, which include 2 DECKS of 40 CARDS to enable you to vary and differentiate your games: DECK 1: matching SPANISH & ENGLISH cards, with both the picture and the word. The ENGLISH cards have a different frame, with blackline pictures. To keep costs down, simply print all the cards using just black ink. DECK 2: this pack features word-only cards in SPANISH, with a matching set of picture-only cards. This is really useful for a focus on word recognition and recall in SPANISH. I’ve included a word & picture reference sheet for children to read through before they play. The sheet can be shared between small groups of children, or distributed individually for children to file in their workbooks or learning folders for future reference. Play the games regularly for maximum benefit - they’re always really popular with young learners of SPANISH! Playing against a timer adds some extra fun - can children beat their own time record? The animals featured are: - bee - bird - cat - dog - duck - elephant - fish - fox - frog - giraffe - lion - monkey - mouse - parrot - rabbit - snake - spider - tiger - tortoise/turtle - zebra The resource consists of two, non-editable files. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully: this resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y QUE OS DIVIRTÁIS!

Research project (Motivational triggers) for KS3 Spanish - Buen Viaje (Holidays) (AQA new spec)

Research project (Motivational triggers) for KS3 Spanish - Buen Viaje (Holidays) (AQA new spec)

This is a research project lesson (or two lessons really) that I created for my year 7 Spanish students. The writing example can be easily adapted if more structures are to be added. The idea is to promote independent learning via research. Students have to research information about the place that they would like to visit (any place in world really but I encouraged to visit Spain). Students decide on the task and start researching relevant information about the chosen location using their iPads/ Chromebooks. At the same time they create a poster or a travel brochure with pop-up images (!!!) about the chosen location. During the second lesson they distribute the writing task bullet points in-between the members of the group and complete a piece of writing as per success criteria and model answer. In the end they stick their written notes (or attach them) to their poster /travel brochure. The whole process takes about 2 lessons and is perfect for the end of the topic as you can incorporate all of the structures / vocabulary learned during the term! Note: the writing example is oriented on the revision of tenses studied this year, holidays, weather and location vocabulary. Please let me know if you have any other ideas on how this project can be implemented. If you still have some time left you can enjoy few games I have inserted to simply have fun during the (possibly) last lesson of the year.

KS3 Spanish Cover Lesson Design Your own Castle

KS3 Spanish Cover Lesson Design Your own Castle

This works best as a cover lesson. It is easy for non-specialists to follow but supports and challenges KS3 students of Spanish well. Could also be adapted for use in lessons by specialists. Students learn / revise key vocabulary related to town / house / and have opportunity to practice using connectives, opinions and more complex phrases. Lesson involves: Differentiated objectives and starter activity. Activity 1: Team / individual work to look up words in Spanish - all of which are displayed on ppt, that they could use to label and describe a castle or palace e.g. knights, ghosts, slides etc. The next slide contains the answers in English so they can write down whatever words they were unable to find. Activity is differentiated. Activity 2: Differentiated translation task using castle vocabulary they looked up and recorded. Key words provided as well as higher challenge. Next slide contains answers for peer / self assessment. Main activity 3 'apply' task: (differentiated) students design their own castle / palace in their books. Key words and higher challenges included. Pyramid review to finish.
