PRIMARY SPANISH - 20 FACTS TASK CARDS, RECORDING SHEETS, DISCUSSION ACTIVITY (1)

PRIMARY SPANISH - 20 FACTS TASK CARDS, RECORDING SHEETS, DISCUSSION ACTIVITY (1)

PERFECT FOR INTRODUCING AND EXPLORING SPAIN! This resource really does help to create a lively language learning environment, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led ’information about Spain’ lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of SPAIN - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home/host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English. This resource comprises the following: 20 FACTS CARDS - there are four facts in each of the following five topic groups: GEOGRAPHY, COUNTRY, LANDMARKS, LANGUAGE and FOOD. There are four cards per A4 sheet, making them the perfect size for young learners. The language on each of the cards ranges from fairly basic to more advanced, which challenges and enhances children’s English skills. RECORDING SHEET CHALLENGE LEVEL ONE - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per A4 page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. Encourage children to be as accurate as possible with their spelling and punctuation, to pay particular attention to the spelling and accents of the SPANISH words that are included, and of course to make sure they are recording the facts in their best handwriting. RECORDING SHEET CHALLENGE LEVEL TWO - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. WHOLE-GROUP PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ACTIVITY, with every fact included in the presentation resource - I’ve found this a really useful means of encouraging and stimulating classroom discussion. Children can reflect on what they already know about SPAIN, and share it with their peers. Use the facts themselves to prompt discussion about the home/host country, eg “What is our capital city? Is it also our largest city?”, which really does create a successful cross-curricular learning environment. This pack comprises 5 non-editable files in a zipped format. SPANISH CITIES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEY AND TEMPLATE

SPANISH CITIES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEY AND TEMPLATE

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN SPAIN! SOPAS DE LETRAS are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in SPANISH, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features five differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer key for each word search, so that students can check their own or each others’ answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! There's a reference sheet of all cities included in the searches, which you can share between small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as an all-year-round reference. Use as starters, refreshers, plenaries, pick-me-ups or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when you’re discussing the geography of SPAIN. For a real focus on the cities of SPAIN, and to facilitate learner independence, photocopy all the grids as a workbook, and let students simply work their way through. The workbook format is great for home learning activities too. The differentiated word search templates are a great way of getting students to apply their knowledge of SPANISH a little more practically and creatively - they create word searches either individually or in teams to share across the classroom - completing these and the pre-prepared grids against a timer works well too! Encourage students to explore SPAIN a little further, and include what they consider to be major cities that are not already featured. The resource consists of 3 non-editable files. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN VIAJE!

5. Countries and nationalities in Spanish

5. Countries and nationalities in Spanish

Learn the words for man and woman, and learn that adjectives sometimes change for different genders. Label a map with English, Welsh, and others. Match sentence halves that describe people, eg., Jeremy Corbyn is an English politician. Practice your geography finding out if Montenegro is un país, a country, or a city, una ciudad; then answering questions about where some cities are ... ¿Dónde está Buenos Aires? Children can extend these activities by using an atlas and making their own questions to flumux their colleagues.

SPANISH VOCABULARY (1&2) PRACTICE & REVISION - 198 WORDS & PHRASES

SPANISH VOCABULARY (1&2) PRACTICE & REVISION - 198 WORDS & PHRASES

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTICING AND REVISING SPANISH VOCABULARY! This combined set of games and activities really does help students to develop and embed their beginning SPANISH vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Students can quiz/test themselves and each other on a regular basis - they're a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary 'drilling tasks'. The pack features 198 BEGINNING WORDS AND PHRASES that students are likely to meet in the INTRODUCTORY stages of SPANISH: * Los saludos * Los días de la semana * Los meses y las estaciones del año * Los números 0-40 * Los colores * Mi familia * Las partes del cuerpo * El tiempo * Palabras frecuentes * Frases útiles para la clase * Preguntas y respuestas I've described the resource as suitable for ages GRADES 6-9, but it does depend on the age at which your students began their SPANISH program - the games and activities work well with any appropriate learning group, depending on their starting point. Each set comprises: SPANISH and ENGLISH game cards, with all the words and phrases to use in a variety of games and activities - I've suggested a range of games and activities that have worked well for me. This file also includes the game card template, which encourages your students to apply their developing knowledge of SPANISH practically and creatively. REFERENCE, RECALL & WRITE WORKBOOK - this is an 18-page booklet. There are 3 differentiated RECALL & WRITE challenges to help your students really practice and review the vocabulary: CHILLOUT CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in ENGLISH from a SPANISH prompt - all the words/phrases are in their language category CHAMPION CHALLENGE: students write from memory all the words and phrases in SPANISH from an ENGLISH prompt - again, all the words and phrases are in their language category SUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE: all the words and phrases appear in random order, and switch from SPANISH to ENGLISH at each question - this really does put students' memories to the test! Encourage students to complete the NOTES & NEXT STEPS sheets regularly - this helps promote reflective learning, encourages students to think about progress they have made, to think about targets for improvement, and how to achieve those targets. The sets are also available individually if you prefer, each priced at $4.00. There are four non-editable files in a zipped format in this resource pack. SPANISH FOR CHILDREN - 80 ANIMALS GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

SPANISH FOR CHILDREN - 80 ANIMALS GAMES CARDS & REFERENCE SHEET

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AND LEARNING ANIMALS IN SPANISH! SPANISHANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of SPANISH. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in SPANISH too. It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with SPANISH, to identify cognates and to begin to link spelling with sound in SPANISH. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic ones. Along the way, children may even get to know some new animals! There are 80 CARDS in total, which include 2 DECKS of 40 CARDS to enable you to vary and differentiate your games: DECK 1: matching SPANISH & ENGLISH cards, with both the picture and the word. The ENGLISH cards have a different frame, with blackline pictures. To keep costs down, simply print all the cards using just black ink. DECK 2: this pack features word-only cards in SPANISH, with a matching set of picture-only cards. This is really useful for a focus on word recognition and recall in FRENCH. I’ve included a word & picture reference sheet for children to read through before they play. The sheet can be shared between small groups of children, or distributed individually for children to file in their workbooks or learning folders for future reference. Play the games regularly for maximum benefit - they’re always really popular with young learners of SPANISH! Playing against a timer adds some extra fun - can children beat their own time record? The animals featured are: - bee - bird - cat - dog - duck - elephant - fish - fox - frog - giraffe - lion - monkey - mouse - parrot - rabbit - snake - spider - tiger - tortoise/turtle - zebra The resource consists of two, non-editable files. SPANISH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES & FLAGS POSTERS - ¡EN ESPAÑOL!

SPANISH EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES & FLAGS POSTERS - ¡EN ESPAÑOL!

CREATE AN INSTANT AND COMPREHENSIVE INTRODUCTION TO EUROPE IN YOUR CLASSROOM WITH 70 POSTERS FEATURING COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES & FLAGS - PERFECT FOR READING, SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION PROMPTS IN SPANISH TOO! Give your students an everyday opportunity to develop their skills in SPANISH and create an instant introduction to EUROPE at the same time! These posters showing EUROPEAN countries, capital cities and flags really do brighten up your learning environment. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting SPANISH as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters help them develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of EUROPE and its geography. I’ve also included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, to extend students’ knowledge of EUROPE a little further, as well as several countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to EUROPE or to ASIA. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as BELARUS, officially known as the República de Belarús, but also frequently referred to as Bielorrusia in SPANISH - you can choose which one you prefer to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity! The resource consists of a single, non-editable file. Please read the Terms of Use carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN VIAJE!
