(alternatively, for low-level students, the teacher can provide students with a vocabulary list and the students label the photo). 2) Change pairs to AB. 3) Student A describes photo while student B listens attentively. 4) Student B describes photo while student A listens attentively. 5) Still without looking at each other’s photos, students attempt to identify 3 differences between their photos. Students may now look at each other’s photos and describe 2-3 differences each. Encourage use of CONNECTORS: Premièrement, Deuxièment,Pour finir Cependant, D’autre part, Alors que De plus, En outre, Par ailleurs Instructions for PART 2 1) Students ask each other the discussion questions. Encourage students to: Extend their answers Elicit more information Agree / disagree with their partners Justify their arguments 2) Students try and report to their new partner everything they can remember which their old partner has just told them. Encourage students to use the questions to guide their memory. GAMIFICATION ALTERNATIVES PROVIDED WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS (in French)

This is a vocabulary revision game a bit like Dobble/Spot it. See this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkq-_eVR8zA) for a few demos of games you can play with this. This resource has 21 pictures for different sports. There are 21 cards, each card carrying 5 pictures. There's more than one set in case the teacher wants more than one for their classroom. I included a word list in French but this game can be used in any language, really.

Les sports et loisirs (French Sports and hobbies) 4 lessons! Y4 3rd Grade

This topic is about sports (20 in total!) and hobbies (watch tv, listen to music, play video games, dance, sing, read, cook and go on the internet) . (School subjects should have been done before this topic!) Children will say they favourite sport and describe their hobbies in French. They will also express their point of view on the sports and hobbies. These lessons are suited for Y4 (3rd Grade) and beyond. This topic will last 4 weeks (1 hour lesson per week). There are lots of activities, songs, dialogues and games. The 5 skills (listening, understanding, speaking, writing and reading) are all present. Combien d'heures de plaisir et de rigolade avez-vous passez en jouant au jeu Tabou avec vos amis?? Alors voici une version contenant des cartes en lien avec les sports (course, défaite, football, ...). Le jeu contient 84 cartes. Transformez donc votre classe en fête!!! Vous séparez vos élèves en équipe de quatre. C'est l'équipe qui r��coltera le plus de points qui sera déclarée la championne. À tour de rôle, une personne dans l'équipe s'avance et doit faire dire aux autres membres de son équipe le mot situé en haut de la carte. Ceci doit être fait en parlant seulement, aucun geste n'est permis. Également, l'élève n'a pas le droit de mentionner les autres mots écrits sur la carte. Pas toujours facile, mais ce jeu permet aux apprenants d'enrichir leur lexique et de travailler sur la spontanéité de leur langue, ce qui est crucial pour la conversation, car elle aussi, elle est spontanée!!
