OCR Nationals Information Technologies (new for Setp 2017)

OCR Nationals Information Technologies (new for Setp 2017)

Please find available a presentation and associated worksheet to evidence student progress in Module 1, Activity 1 - The Project Life Cycle. I will be adding more lessons as and when produced and a course booklet when I have finished preparing every lesson (this could take some time though). Each presentation also contains 6-7 'Chunking' words to familiarise students with subject specific terminology. These can be assessed in subsequent lessons - I use a Moodle quiz function on my subject page to do this. i also have a Moodle course that will fully support the delivery of this qualification - please email me for more details.

iDEA film

iDEA film

When we launched the Bronze Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award a few months ago, we asked some of the people who helped make, test and play with iDEA to create their very own 'video selfie' to put into a little introduction film. We asked them - what do you think of iDEA? How would you describe it? These are the results - you and your students will hear from people who have used iDEA to develop digital and enterprise skills; teachers and university staff who are using it in classrooms, workshops and clubs; partners who are helping make the 'badges' (the online modules) and some of the people who have helped make iDEA happen.

George The Poet film about iDEA

George The Poet film about iDEA

George the Poet has made an inspirational film for iDEA to help inspire people to learn, be curious, discover and make the most of opportunity. "We're the generation that came of age online", he says, and talking of enterprise - calls it "the arena in which iDEAs centralise". He talks about how valuable knowledge is - so teachers can play this in any lesson across the curriculum to help spark interest and passion for learning in young people. George the Poet talks about untapped potential and helps people see that by not participating or learning, they will be left out. He says "We now live in a digital age" and shows how discovery and enterprise can lead to self determination, personal growth and self-sufficiency. Note: George the Poet is a spoken word artists with an interest in social and political issues. The film lasts 3'30 minutes.

Word Processing Wordsearch ICT Computing Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Word Processing Wordsearch ICT Computing Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Word Processing'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!
