HISTORY: Vikings: Meaning of the term 'Norsemen'

HISTORY: Vikings: Meaning of the term 'Norsemen'

What do we mean by 'Norsemen'? The word Norsemen means 'men of the North'. Also covered briefly on this sheet: use of the word 'country', 'kingdom', points of a compass, and the meaning of 'Scandinavia'. A photocopiable printout, hand out, or worksheet that students can colour in and highlight as they learn about Vikings, history, and geography. Suitable for all ages as a stand alone sheet or part of a wider topic. This resource was created as part of my ocean row around the coast of Great Britain, following the same routes taken by the Vikings a thousand years ago. If you would like to follow the expedition, there is a weekly film documentary series on YouTube (Sarah Rows Solo) and Amazon Prime worldwide (search 'The Great British Viking Quest'). I do live stream sessions of the boat build, and expedition on Twitter (@GBVQuest), and free virtual sessions for schools on Skype in the Classroom. Follow the Great British Viking Quest expedition on social media using #GBVQ If you would like to get a copy of The Great British Viking Quest printed colouring book which includes these printables, you can get it for $1 a month by becoming an expedition patron: www.patreon.com/GreatBritishVikingQuest Website: thegreatbritishvikingquest.com

Select a single picture and project the image on the wall or share it with the class as a handout. Let's Talk in Danish!: This set of cards looks at 57 different settings. The teacher describes something in the top card. The students then use this to model a sentence using the bottom set of pictures. There are lots of things to see and describe in every picture. Let's Write in Danish pack: There are lots of ways of using this teaching pack. It could be used as writing assessment for students learning Danish.
