Cover work

Cover work

15 cover work sheets covering a variety of topics. Activities include translation, writing, recognising words and word patterns. These can be used for students with some experience in French year 7-9. They are designed to leave with the cover supervisor or cover teacher who has little or no knowledge of French. They have answer sheets with them and each one should keep the students busy for at least 30 minutes, depending on ability.

French Writing Journal

French Writing Journal

Bulletin Journals are a creative and fun way to engage students in writing. Taking inspiration from Pinterest, I put together these four sheets which cover topics such as : Food/drink, chores, school subjects, daily routine, holidays (past and future) then a more creative sheet where students fill their 'Happiness Box' (with nouns) and list the things they would like to learn (using verbs). I plan to use this as a Writing Assessment. There is scope for all levels of ability in this task. The pages can be used individually or as a booklet. I plan to use the 'Ma Vie' sheet as the 1st page and the ' Boîte à Bonheur' sheet as the back page with the other two sheets in the middle. I have now added the assessment sheet to accompany the journal.

French Listening Activity

French Listening Activity

This is a homework that I set my class last year; however it can be used as a starter, plenary or just as something to pass time. The sound clip is attached to the pp but as sometimes technology does let you down, I have attached the original audio clip to this also. Please review and keep me updated with ideas for resources that help you.

Seasons

Seasons

Les saisons introduces the seasons with On peut + the infinitive verb and various activities that you can do in the season. The power-point version has the images entering on the touch to help with recognition and useful for practicing the phrases. I have used this with year 6 and year 7 students.

Expo 1 Writing and Speaking Assessments in line with NEW GCSE. Markschemes included.

Expo 1 Writing and Speaking Assessments in line with NEW GCSE. Markschemes included.

Writing and Speaking Assessments based on our SoW which follows Expo 1 chapters. All assessments are in line with new GCSE requirements, and Foundation GCSE markschemes are included for each assessment, as well as teacher elements of role play/ photo card/ general conversation for speaking assessment. I'd highly recommend moderation of results within departments to decide on appropriate interpretation of GCSE markschemes at KS3. The first half term of each term sees students sitting speaking assessment, and the second sees them sitting writing assessment.
