BOUM! PowerPoint Game template - Make your own games!

BOUM! PowerPoint Game template - Make your own games!

This is a template - not a full game! You can view and download a FREE example of the game here for French grammar: https://www.tes.com/us/teacher-lessons/boum-imparfait-et-pass-compos-review-end-of-year-end-of-unit-game-11640689. Please click "open as read only" to play the game. With this template, you can make the questions exactly what you want them to be by editing the questions slide. I would advise against changing the order of the slides (e.g. moving the bombs around) as the game relies on the hyperlinks I have created. Please note that the currency is Euros because I teach French! However, you can change it to anything you want! All text is editable. MATERIALS NEEDED: Each team will need a small whiteboard, board marker and eraser (If those are not available, scrap paper does the job too!) HOW TO PLAY: This game can be played individually or in groups. Group games are more fun! To be more effective, avoid having groups of more than three students. 1. Teams first name themselves and take it in turns to choose a number. 2. Once a team has chosen a number and it is not a bomb, all teams attempt to write the verb. They must use the verb indicated on the slide in the correct tense / mood. 3. The team who chose the number has priority: they show their answer first. If their sentence is correct, they win the amount indicated on the slide. If it is not correct, the other teams show answer and they all have a chance to win half of the amount indicated on the slide. (Click the picture of the house in the bottom right hand corner to go back to the numbers grid.) 4. The teacher must keep a record of how much each team wins on the board. (I like to use fake money I printed and laminated and give it for each correct answer! The kids love it!) 5. If a team uncovers a bomb, they lose all their money. There are 6 bombs in total. 6. The team with the most money at the end of the game wins. You will notice that as students choose a number, it changes colors – this will allow you to track the numbers that have already been called.

Greek Mythology Wordsearch Starter Activity Myths and Legends Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

Greek Mythology Wordsearch Starter Activity Myths and Legends Homework Cover Lesson Plenary

Wordsearch on the theme of 'Greek Mythology'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. Harry Potter characters and their links to classical (Roman & Greek) mythology

Harry Potter characters and their links to classical (Roman & Greek) mythology

Did you know that most of the names of characters and magical creatures in the Harry Potter series have roots in classical mythology and Latin and/or Ancient Greek? Do your students love Harry Potter? This is a ready to use, editable Powerpoint presentation with slides of 24 different characters and creatures from the Harry Potter series, where possible with images from the movie. In the notes for each slide you will find the description of that slide: the connection between that specific Harry Potter character and Latin or Ancient Greek language and/or mythology. Let the students recognise the characters and teach them about the links with the classics, to let them discover once again that the classics really are all around us, if only we learn to see them!

Messing around in my temple, with that Poseidon! You deserved what you got! Beauty is only for those who deserve it! You certainly didn’t! Medusa: And you made sure no one would look twice in our direction! Danae: What! With all those snakes for hair! I’d say not! Athene: Plus that other one small detail – that once someone did look in their direction, they didn’t make the same mistake again! They couldn’t! Quiz Sample 1. Who wanted to marry Danae? 2. Who was the son of Danae? 3. Why was Polydectes apparently so annoyed at his wedding? 4. What did Polydectes trick Perseus into saying? 5. What did he ask for? 6. Did being born with only one eye mean you were only born with half a brain? Cyclops 2: How rude! Though I guess it was a shame we forgot our old blacksmith skills. Polyphemus: Even though I would never have driven a red-hot stake into the eye of any creature. Greek warrior 1: Not even one that was holding you captive, and eating 2 men for breakfast and supper, every day? Odysseus: Real convenience food, we were! Polyphemus: Well, you did make a welcome change from lamb stew! Poseidon: Enough! Here I am, trying to defend you, Polyphemus, and all you can do is confirm their story! What are you? Stupid, or something? Sample Quiz/Reading Comprehension Questions • What animals did Cyclops look after? • What trade had Zeus originally trained the Cyclops for? • How did Polyphemus prevent Odysseus and his men from escaping from his cave? • Why did the Cyclops not help Polyphemus? • What did Odysseus use to dull Polyphemus’s senses ..even more?
