¿Quién es el jardinero? Juego de lógica (Logic game in Spanish)

A logic game in Spanish to develop thinking skills while revising some basic vocabulary and structures. The students have to read 15 clues about 5 characters. They all live in concurrent houses on the same road, each house of a different colour. They are of five different nationalities, each drinks a specific drink and each has a different job. Students have to work their way through the 15 clues to be able to answer 2 simple questions: who is the gardener and who drinks water.

Chores Connect the Dots Squares game

This is a partner activity. Students take turns identifying chores and then connecting them if correct. The goal is to complete as many squares as possible. Uses the vocabulary for: to clean the bathroom, to clean your room, to cook, to do the dishes, to do the grocery shopping, to do the laundry, to empty the wastebasket, to make the bed, to mow the lawn, to set the table, to sweep, to vacuum, to walk the dog, to wash the car, to wash the windows. Good for any language.

This game uses pictures for 16 chores. Students must identify the picture (use in sentences to make it more challenging) as they advance along the snail path. Just pictures are given, so it is easy to adapt for each textbook. Make 1 copy for every 3-4 students; print on cardstock and laminate to keep forever. You need 1 die for every game board. Pictures represent: to dust, to vacuum, to sweep, to take the garbage out, to set the table, to clear the table, to load the dishwasher, to unload the dishwasher, to wash the dishes, to make the bed, to clean your room, the clean the bathroom, to do the grocery shopping, to cook, to do the laundry, to mow the lawn.

This reading features a dialog between a businessman and an employee at a hotel at check-in. It has a full glossary of new vocabulary and 5 true/false reading comprehension questions. Activity ideas: put students in pairs and have them read the parts of hotel employee and person checking in. Once they have translated the reading, they can role-play their own check-in situation. Alternatively, students can prepare a script to perform for the class.
