Rounding to the nearest 1000 - Fluency and Reasoning

Rounding to the nearest 1000 - Fluency and Reasoning

Worksheet to give children practise at rounding 4 digit numbers to the nearest 1000. There are some questions where numbers are placed on an empty number line, and then questions where numbers are represented in different ways (place value arrow cards, place value counters and numbers written in words). The last few questions are reasoning questions, giving children the opportunity to practise rounding in context. This worksheet supports the new White Rose Small Steps Progression for Place Value in Year 4

Number Sense activity with ruler.

Number Sense activity with ruler.

Number sense takes center stage in doing mathematics and is one of the main stumble blocks for students with dyscalculia. Being able to visualize and apply a number line is an important number sense activity. You can help your student to develop this ability using a ruler or a tape measure that shows the inches or centimeters on one side and is blank on the other side, as number line, and a few small indicator stickies. Helps building estimation and number line skills. Use K-2
