Leaders of Religion and Philosophy Unit outline

This comprehensive unit plan is suitable for S1/S2 (Scotland), Year 7/8 (England) and takes into account the experiences and outcomes for RMPS, Literacy, Health and Wellbeing (the Third and Fourth level). The unit plan also encompasses Significant Aspects of Learning within RMPS and Key Progression Framework Statements for these levels. The principles and strategies of formative assessment are embedded in all lessons along with a variety of learning and teaching approaches including active learning. It explores the lives and teachings of some leaders of Religion and Philosophy (e.g. Guru Nanak, Confucius, Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Buddha etc) and helps students identify qualities required for successful leadership. At the end of the unit, pupils can complete an investigation about one leader they would like to explore further. The personal investigation can be peer- and self-assessed.
