IB DP Theory of Knowledge - Introduction to Indigenous Knowledge Systems AOK

IB DP Theory of Knowledge - Introduction to Indigenous Knowledge Systems AOK

This activity introduces students to the Area of Knowledge (AOK) of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS). Specifically, it helps students use aspects of the IKS specific knowledge framework (applying KCs, and WOKs to an IKS real life situation) to introduce students to the strengths and weaknesses of Indigenous Knowledge Systems. Understanding and using the strengths and limitations of this AOK is essential for students to effectively analyse and evaluate their knowledge questions (KQ) when preparing their TOK Essays and Presentations. Lesson length: 45 minutes to 1 hour Background information and link to video provided. A worksheet to help students apply the knowledge framework (pages 1 and 2) and answer key for the teacher are provided. The document is available as a PDF for printing and a Word document for editing.

Countries and Capitals of Europe – puzzle

Countries and Capitals of Europe – puzzle

Countries and Capitals of Europe – puzzle Students should match the countries with their capitals. There are 30 countries and their capitals. Some of the countries are located not only in Europe. I’ve included three different sizes of the same puzzle. The smaller size is only three pages and is great if you are going to print of individual copies for students to practice in class or at home. The larger size requires 8 pieces of paper and quite a bit of space to solve – fun for centers and group work. The extra-large size requires 24 pieces of paper. Cut out the puzzle pieces (or even better if your students do it themselves) and students are to solve the puzzle so that it matches the solution provided. If your students are going to cut out the pieces then no prep is needed – the puzzle is not in order. I’ve been using these puzzles for years with great success! I recommend printing the puzzles on colourful paper and laminating them. This way you only have to cut them out once and they will last for years! What is included in this product? • The solution to the puzzle – Pages 3 • The normal size puzzle – Pages 4 – 6 • The large size puzzle – Pages 7 – 14 • The extra-large size puzzle – Pages 15-38 • Questions and Answers in a table format for easy grading or you can cut these out to play a matching game – Pages 39 – 41 My students love doing these types of puzzles. This product can also be used as a perfect revision of the school work to do at home. All answers can be easily checked thanks to the included solution to the puzzle or questions and answers shown in a table. Thank you for checking my resources.

THE TONLE SAP LAKE AND RIVER OF CAMBODIA -AN INLAND WATER STUDY

THE TONLE SAP LAKE AND RIVER OF CAMBODIA -AN INLAND WATER STUDY

Potentially this unit has multiple uses across age ranges from primary to secondary levels in geography and environmental studies. The lake and connecting river have rather unique hydrology in significant variations in water level and reverses flows of the Tonle Sap River linking the lake with the Mekong River. One suggested approach is to use this as an information gathering tutorial so that students can fill-in the worksheet (at the end of the unit) as the pages are screened. This unit supports the Australian geography curriculum at senior levels - Unit 1 - Natural and ecological hazards (flooding); Unit 2 - Sustainable places - Year 6 - Asia - geographical diversity; Year 10 Asia - Inland water study. The very large Tonle Sap Lake is the largest freshwater lake in SE Asia and supports about 2 million people around its perimeter. It also has historical significance because the presence of this lake and the in-flowing Siem Reap River had relevance for the locating of the large sandstone cities within the Angkor region during the development of the Khmer Empire. Join the trip along the Tonle Sap River. Cross the Tonle Sap Lake and gain some understanding of the importance of this inland water system for the people of Cambodia. The attached worksheets in general and pdf form are essential additions if you choose to treat this resource material as a tutorial.
