A series of questions focused on the scientific article for the IAL Edexcel exam - unit 5. There is a teacher answer sheet included. I have also included a copy of the Scientific Article from Edexcel Unit 5 Exam and definitions for vocabulary. I have focused on the following topics: • The nervous system – structure and function of each neurone • Action potentials and how an impulse is generated • Synapses • Structure and function of areas of the brain • FMRI scans • The eye • Brain injuries • Critical window • Respiration • PCR and Gel electrophoresis • Speciation This resource helps student´s to focus their revision in the appropriate areas and help develop their exam response.

An overview of the practical students should perform. We find it difficult to do the experiment so it is a theoretical lesson. I have provided students with results and there is a practice exam question.

I have used my own resources and a few slides from other Tes members (thank you!) to put together a PPT which recalls the equation for momentum and then looks at how to calculate force using the change of momentum and time. There are also exam questions included for extra practice!

A PPT with information regarding the 2 types of fibres. Students collect information about the fibres from around the room (included in PPT) and complete a table stating the differences. They can then use their knowledge to predict the types of fibres found in different animal muscles. There is an exam question and mark scheme to determine understanding of subject material. I have included the lesson plan I provided when I was observed so feel free to tweak it to suit your group.

Students investigate Hooke´s Law with a simple practical. They use text books and their results to form their own conclusion as to what Hooke´s Law is.

Acceleration PPT recaps over the speed and velocity covered in previous lesson. There are worksheets with questions on with varying ability of challenge. Graphing speed introduces the idea of how different graphs can be used to calculate distance, speed and velocity. I have used other people´s resources found online - Matrix car chase and calculation worksheets.

I use this as a formative assessment in lessons but it can be used for homework. It helps check understanding of the topic and can be used as a revision tool. A peer assessment sheet is also included but can be used as a self assessment task.

A power point lesson which guides students through data in the form of carbon dioxide levels; global temperature; rising sea levels and glacial melting. Students gain practice in data analysis which is vital in this module. There are also a series of exam questions with answers to support their understanding. Edexcel Spec Link - 6.16 and 6.20 Three lessons which focus on the forensic science element of the topic. The first lesson looks at the role of microorganisms in decomposition. This is a recap session, looking at the carbon cycle. Lesson 2 introduces the idea of using body temperature and rigor mortis to determine time of death. lesson 3 finishes the topic looking at the role of bacteria and insects in decomposition. This links to succession which had been studied previously. There are many different student activities including questions and answers on the topic.

A useful revision tool for students preparing for the Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry exam Summer 2022. The 14 paged booklet includes the specification points for students to plan their revision plus details of core practicals they could be tested on.
