Supporting the NEW EdExcel BTEC Tech Award
BTEC Tech Award in Digital Information Technology
Personalised Learning Checklists for Component 1 (+ Component 1 Assessment), Component 2 (+ Component 2 Assessment) and Component 3.
Keep a record of student progress against the new syllabus content (1 - Grasped concept, 2 - need to revise, 3 - Did not understand (complete revisit).
Ideal for completing after interim assessment, and will allow easy identification of areas for further teaching and intervention.
BTEC Business - Unit 2 Finance
Topics included: Costs & Revenues, Break-Even, Cash Flow and Budgets
Assessing: Definition, selection and calculations.
Once completed and reviewed in DIRT (Direct Improvement & Reflection Time) lesson, will act as a revision resource.
Easily adaptable for future testing in preparation for online test.
Revision resource for the BTEC ICT Unit 1 Online World exam
Also suitable for: New BTEC Tech Award in DTT or GCSE Computer Science
Topics: Legislation, Threats to Data, Online Docs, Data Exchange and The Internet (the more 'difficult' topics for students to remember).
How the revision resource works for students:
Read a golden nugget.
Read it again.
Look away - what can you remember?
Read it again - what did you forget?
Read it again.
Look away - have you remembered it yet?
Repeat this process and learn the theory in little bitesize chunks
Next lesson: DTT - Test - How much do the students remember - where are they still struggling (solution is on the Golden nuggets given out as revision!).
A good way to pinpoint misconceptions and areas that need final attention before the exam/mock exam.
Next installment - currently making - will arrive during December.
Lesson plan introducing HTML and use of layers, tables and templates.
Key Concept - linking together Computer Science, Digital Literacy and Programming.
Following on from the Python Introduction Unit, this unit will focus on developing more efficient code now that students understand iteration, selection and lists.
In this lesson, students look at simple examples in order to understand the difference between procedures and functions.
(Included text file with code as Python file cannot be uploaded).
Next lessons: Using functions to effectively plan code.
Suitable for GCSE Business revision (A293)

Teacher solution
Model used for controlled assessments.
Used with students midway through OCR 20 Programming Challenges, to get Year 10 students to reflect and focus on the different stages in the Programming Cycle of Assessment and the importance.
Class discussion of each stage, followed by students explaining and evidencing each stage.
This enables them to work at a higher level and to understand the process required in September.
Using musical instruments in class for the ‘beat’, I have created a summary revision lesson on the main content for the Unit 2 online Business Finance exam.
With definitions, examples and some common points that may be useful in the ‘explain’ questions, this is a final revision before mock practice (prior to the exam).
Thanks for taking an interest in this resource.
I hope it helps if you purchase it.

EdExcel GCSE Business - Revision Resource for Independent Study:
Memory Joggers and Explain questions for Theme 1 Investigating Small Business and Theme 2 Growing a Business.
A lesson which worked well with a high and low ability Year 10 class. They had struggled with the Statement of Account, but through this presentation, by the end of the lesson, all students were much more confident on the topic.
Developed this resource as alternative end of unit test for the students.
It combined questions on:
Business enterprise, business activity, business sectors and business ownership
The financial document trail.
It was differentiated so students chose the question they felt most confident answering. The rule was a few sentences for bronze, a paragraph for silver and two paragraphs for gold.
It worked well, and demonstrated the progress students had made in the half term.
A simple resource to help students remember how to convert from Hexadecimal into Decimal number (denary), and from Decimal number (denary) into Hexadecimal.
As there are no calculators in the exam this year, it would help if students could refer to the 16 times table quickly when converting.
Help students to revise the concepts in the run up to the exam:
Hand out a memory jogger: 1 minute (think), 1 minute (pair) then class discussion (share)
A great way to revise a topic before getting them to attempt a previous exam question.
