This is a short presentation with focus on Thatcher's fall from power. There are two hyperlinks; the news broadcast from the night of resignation and her resignation speech from the steps of 10 Downing St. Students are asked to consolidate their knowledge by looking at four areas of Thatcher's policy and assessing how successul; economy, social policy, foreign policy, industrial disputes. There is a set of notes to accompany the lesson.

This resource deals with Heath's foreign policy with the main focus on Britain's entry to the EEC. There is a hyperlink to the programme 'The ten year duel' which covers Heath's relationship with Harold Wilson. There is an excellent section on the entry to the EEC but also useful background to the whole section on Heath. Students are asked to consider the impact of the referendum in 1975 and a further hyperlink is included. The lesson concludes with Heath's policy towards the USA and China. A set of notes is also included. Students will need access to the AQA Sally Waller textbook.

This is a resource which explains why the Conservatives fell from power in 1964 with an activity based on the Profumo affair. There is a video hyperlink to a sky news broadcast after the death of Profumo which gives an overview of the scandal. The lesson looks at the impact of the affair on the Conservative government, 1963-64 and also looks at the other factors which caused the government to fall from power in 1964.

This is a lesson which deals with the economic boom of the post war era. There is a powerpoint which looks at the reasons why there was a post war boom and includes a hyperlink of a Conservative party political party broadcast which suggests that the Conservatives were responsible for the boom. The activities include a comparision of wages against real wages and a source evaluation exercise which requires access to the Sally Waller AQA A level textbook. There is also a sheet of economic terms which students will find useful and notes on the age of affluence.

This is a lesson which consolidates the social and cultural changes of the 1960s and gives students the opportunity to engage in their own research. A blank table is provided which students will complete once they have completed research. Students will be expected to present their findings to the rest of the group. The AQA textbook by Sally Waller is mentioned as a reference point but any good A level textbook would suffice.

Three lessons which cover the social changes during the 1960s. The first lesson explores four key developments, the abolition of capital punishment, the legalistion of abortion, the decriminalisation of homosexuality and the divorce act. There is information on each area plus an embedded video clip. Students are required to complete the included table. The second and third lesson explore the issue of education; the first lesson looking at the development of the comprehensive system and the second lesson, the development of higher education and the open university. There is an embedded video clip in each lesson, a source to analyse within the education lesson and an essay to plan within the higher education lesson.

This is the first three lessons which cover the AQA Modern Britain syllbabus, the impact of Thatcherism. There is an introduction to Thatcher as a leader which deals with ideology and the second lesson explores why Thatcher was victorious in the 1983 and 1987 elections. The third lesson examines why Thatcher was successful by analyising the divided opposition. There are printed notes with each lesson and hyperlinked clips throughout.

This is a complete lesson which looks at the educational changes throughout the 1960s including the introduction of comprehensive education, the increase in university provision and the implementation of the Open University. The lesson begins with an introduction to the comprehensive system - there is a very short clip included of an early comprehensive. The AQA Sally Waller textbook is needed to complete the table on comprehensive education. The lesson then looks at the increase in university provision and the introduction of the Open University. The lesson concludes with a source evaluation task.
