These are Leap Year and Leap Day comprehension passages for KS2 that include a range of nonfiction Leap Day and Leap Year texts for Key Stage 2, whilst also giving you a selection of Leap Year reading comprehension activities. Each Leap Year passage has a nonfiction reading text, followed by four KS2 Grade standards-focused comprehension questions. The passages are varied in style, from instructions to poetry. Creating a Class Agreement Lesson This is lesson to write a class agreement, charter or set of class ‘rules’ during the first day or week back in September or your first day/week with a new class. It is a complete lesson to create your class agreement together. The lesson takes the class through the process of writing the agreement, with worksheets to complete along the way. There is a focus on how an agreement or charter is different from rules, taking into account the vocabulary which makes an agreement effective. There is also a section on modal verbs, providing some cross-curricular SPaG coverage. Two worksheets feature as part of the lesson and I have also included two further worksheets. These can either be integrated into the lesson, or used as extension activities for particular pupils. Are you looking for Christmas worksheets for reading for your class? This set of Christmas reading comprehension questions focuses on the Christmas story, with a Christmas reading passage and 12 task cards, plus KS2 reading challenge cards. The story, Starbright’s Important Mission, tells the Christmas story through the eyes of the star. There are then 12 task cards requiring the children to reflect on their understanding of the story. The task cards focus on skills such as: Be an emotion detective: describe the emotion of the characters at specific points of the story Draw ‘mood journeys’ for three of the main characters Find the evidence to support key information Longer answers, requiring students to quote accurately from the text There are answers provided for each of the reading comprehension task cards. A whole unit of work with all resources included. It consists of six presentations (one is an introduction and the other five are complete lessons) and four worksheets with opportunities for extra challenges to stretch more able pupils where appropriate. Pupils are tasked with coming up with a vegan dish which will compete with meat-based dishes on the school lunch menu.
