This is a start to memory. The bundle of work contains a powerpoint with various activities to help students begin to think about the role and importance of memory. There are 2 podcasts and video documentary on Clive Wearing. This worked well with my students to get them into memory. I used one of the podcasts as a homework with accompanying questions.

Designed really for Yr 13s who are going to be leaving home to go to university. Safe dating is really just designed to get students to think about practical issues for staying safe. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor materials uploaded also.

This powerpoint is designed for parents. We put on an evening in the Autumn term - How to help my son/daughter....My session is on revise. I go through revision techniques and the importance of being organised. This is a forerunner to the December Yr 12 mocks,

Designed really for Yr 12s before their Yr 12 mocks, but can be used to remind Yr 13 of different strategies or generate discussion. I've used VARK to encourage students to think about how they best learn and then suggested strategies that they can adapt around those. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor materials uploaded also.

This is aimed at Year 12s in the summer term., but could equally be used with Yr 13s. There are two powerpoints. One briefly introducing CVs and the information which will be needed. This could be sent to students or given the week before in preparation. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor work uploaded.

I use this lesson as my first lesson with my AS/A Level (Year 1) Sociology Class. The outline explains the 2 year course to them, and we use it as a folder organiser for sections of work. The powerpoint then runs through a range of activities, dealing with society, social imagination, norms and values, culture, social construction, ethnocentricism. The activities (word docs and video clip) link to the powerpoint. The key terms sheet allows them to reflect and record at the end of the lesson.

This PowerPoint is aimed at students and can form part of the taught delivery. It goes through the the reading and researching process and how to reading effectively, considering the role and significance of the book. It begins to introduce source evaluation. The resource log accompanies the PowerPoint and I used it in subsequent lessons as students got further into the research process. AQA A'Level EPQ 7993

This PowerPoint is used as the 1st introductory lesson for GCSE WJEC Sociology (Paper 2: Crime and Deviance Section). It introduces Crime and Deviance - the concepts and some of the core arguments. (It refers to an ‘envelope exercise’ which will be returned to in later lessons as students have developed clearer and more informed ideas about offenders. There is reference to the WJEC Illuminate Textbook.

Designed for Yr 12s or Yr 13s. The ppt runs through first aid - for bleeding, burns, unresponsiveness and choking. There is a relevant news article, quiz and then information for ‘what to do if...’ I also ordered a number of resusci annes from the BHF (10 free to schools) - these come with a training DVD and we worked through this. Students liked it, especially the practical aspect. I have other Yr 12 and 13 Tutor materials uploaded also.

I use these Tracking and Targeting sheets with my 6th Form Students. They transfer the comments that I have made on their work onto their tracking sheets. The idea is that the students and I can easily track what they need to do in order to move in. This can be kept at the front of their files, or in may case I keep these in an folder attached to the wall - easy for me and my students to access. I also ask them to look at their tracking sheet before they start the next essay/LAQ and write the target at the top of the work - to focus them!

This PowerPoint is aimed at students and aims to launch the EPQ process to students. It goes through the process from start to finish, concentrating more fully on the early stages such as choosing topic areas, how the course is structured it. The word document follows the launch and is for students to brainstorm on and work on, before the next lesson, when we share ideas and discuss whether some may be more or less viable.
