Religious Education KS2 Y5 Y6 unit scheme Festivals Eid Hannuka Advent Diwali

This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS2. There are lesson power points with back up activities, sheets, discussion points, resources, assessments etc. There is an assessment page and a scheme of work to go with the powerpoint too. I have also written a two hour Flip Learning Project which substitutes some of the lessons as additional extra. The PPT has 10 lessons and 52 slides with activities. You can pretty much walk into the room and teach from it, without further resources. Ideal if RS cover teacher or non-specialist too. I have developed a whole unit work from Year 5 up to Year 8 which I am now uploading. These have taken me hundreds of hours so I hope this saves you lots of time. Happy Sunday!

AQA RS New Spec 9-1 Hinduism Cosmology revision sheet

AQA RS New Spec 9-1 Hinduism Cosmology revision sheet

AQA RS New Spec 9-1 Hinduism Cosmology revision sheet. This is based on the PIXL approach in which pupils have to reduce, transform and create. Students have some key revision information in the middle of the sheet and key words around the outside. They then reduce the information into their own words and then transform this into an image, before creating some multiple choice questions based on cosmology. Students found this useful as this was a tricky part of the Hinduism course for some pupils. Great for independent revision or study as well as being good for teachers to use as a resource to talk through with students.

Explain who Ghandi was and what his beliefs were (complete lesson)

Explain who Ghandi was and what his beliefs were (complete lesson)

This is a complete lesson for lower KS2 pupils who are studying Hinduism in RE and have already had a basic introduction to the concepts of Ahimsa, Karma and Dharma. There is a starter intended to ‘hook’ the children in by getting them to ask the questions - these questions could then be used in an alternative plenary in which pupils can answer their original questions. The reading activity could be completed in groups of four (one card each) or pairs (two cards each). There are comprehension questions at the bottom for the pupils to ask each there peers after reading each section. Finally, the main written activity is differentiated three ways to allow children to apply their new understanding of Ghandi and his beliefs.

Building History - Full

Building History - Full

Building History is currently under testing - please see here for your free copy! This page will contain the full edition when completed. Please check out the below! https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/building-history-11872917 Update 07/04/18: Now includes individualised research tasks for each of the 6 main world religions and presentation Powerpoint Building History is a research or creative project for KS3 or 4 students to consider and explore religious history - whether real or imagined. It gives players the chance to invent their own situations using creative higher thinking skills to explain why situations happened, and how we got to where we are today. Building History is split into two distinct areas – This World and Our World. Building History – This World ‘This World’ uses our own history as an example to detail some of the key periods and situations that lead to modern religion. Students take real life histories and explain how and why they came to be, and how they influence the modern world by linking past and present. Students can also take this as a set beginning, adding in different situations and periods before or after to creatively see what impact this may have. But Why? ‘This World’ teaches students how the history of world religions has come about, using a range of creative and evaluative skills, setting them up for new GCSE gradings where they will need to be able to confidently demonstrate a detailed knowledge of religious beliefs and confidently analyse the influence of religion on individuals, communities and societies both today and historically using a range of specialist vocabulary. ‘This World’ also allows for students a wide variety of ways to confidently showcase information. Building History – Our World ‘Our World’ contains everything students need to create a wildly different world – whether it be a fantasy world of elves and dragons or the strange and unusual culture within a futuristic space station. It includes several examples for students to begin with and is easily edited towards different situations, series of work or curriculums. Building History is designed to be used as a project over a series of lessons - however can easily be adapted to shorter lesson timescales or even as a starter. Everything you need to start is included in the Building History PDF document. Building History is currently under testing and therefore is being released free in order to get feedback - please do let me know what you think!

Introduction to Hinduism

Introduction to Hinduism

This is a simple Power Point which asks questions and answers them in the following slides, accompanied by simple graphics and photos. It would be good for an RE day, or topic introduction. I would use the presentation as an overview, and then ask children to ask further questions, which they could write on speech bubbles to be displayed on the working wall.

VERY successful assembly on the theme of candles with focus on advent mentioning Hanukkah and Divali. Many children came to thank me at the end. I made a very basic advent wreath using battery tea lights and a hoop of ivy with holly while explaining the first part which captured their attention. I usually have Christmas carols playing when they walk in. Good for SMSC. takes about 20 minutes but you can play around with the music video to make it longer or shorter
