The Egyptians (Embedded/Alternative Education)

The Egyptians (Embedded/Alternative Education)

This resource has been created with hard to reach young people in mind. These resources have been used at The Island Project as part of vocational learning as a way of engaging young people who struggled with ADHD, Autism, SEMH and challenging behaviour. Most learners who attend our project are also struggling academically and therefore these materials are designed to allow tutors to scale the difficultly as desired. This bundle contains 6 project plans and is aimed at giving young people the opportunity of learning about Ancient Egypt in a less academic way through more hands on activities using arts and crafts, social play, woodwork, Lego and more. This range of sessions was delivered over a 6 week half term, each session being focused on per week.

Victorian Crime and Jack the Ripper ENTIRE SCHEME and RESOURCES

Victorian Crime and Jack the Ripper ENTIRE SCHEME and RESOURCES

This scheme of work was originally made for a SEN group but has since been differentiated for KS3 and taught at year 8 and year 9 to a range of abilities. Though it suits lower to mid for some activities, most lessons are easily adaptable to suit a higher ability class - particularly the Jack the Ripper case file section at the end. It has lessons on the history of Victorian Crime and Punishment, covering topics such as the Queen, the bloody code, Sweeney Todd (truth/fiction), Robert Peel, and the development of new detection methods (such as: finger prints and mugshots). Some a bit creepy or gory, so know your audience! Finally at the end is a case study of Jack the Ripper, which uses a range of original sources and offers students the chance to deduce who they think Jack was based on several possible suspects. This is themed around Sherlock Holmes for fun. There are over 200 slides and all worksheets are included. This has been a popular unit for several years at my school. There are notes on how to apply each worksheet and most slides have explanations. I’ve spent a long time developing this and the vast majority is my own work - I hope you and your students enjoy it!

Feeling Charts

Feeling Charts

These feeling charts have been created to be an interactive, frequently-used, classroom resource. The more students utilize the charts, the more the classroom as a whole and the student as an individual, will benefit. Students better understand their own emotions when they learn to identify what they are feeling; and proceed to learn how to cope with those emotions. This, in return, allows for a positive classroom environment with less confusion and more understanding between students and teachers. -There are 24 feelings included: aggressive, angry, annoyed, bored, calm, cold, confident, confused, disappointed, embarrassed, excited, friendly, frustrated, funny, grumpy, happy, hot, hungry, hurt, lazy, motivated, nervous, overwhelmed, proud, quiet, sad, scared, shy, sick, silly, surprised, tired -One large feelings chart. Three miniature feelings charts. -All emoji faces are labeled with their emotion.

Develop mastery in maths and build self-esteem | Discussing & Reasoning Resource

Develop mastery in maths and build self-esteem | Discussing & Reasoning Resource

10 PIECE DOWNLOAD ✔️ Improve mastery skills, develop self-esteem and encourage positive thinking. ✔️ Create engaging and thought-provoking discussions. ✔️ Provide opportunities for all learners to develop reasoning skills and build self-esteem. ✔️ Perfect for small group interventions and whole class lessons. Life By Shape resources can help improve mastery skills in two ways: showing how images can be used to represent problems or ideas giving an opportunity for children to discuss and reason Each Life By Shape resource included in this package shows words of inspiration and motivation represented by an image of shape. Using images to represent Each image has been designed to represent (or show) a motivational message. The key here is for children to try and imagine that each shape within an image represents an individual person. Once children understand this concept, the discussions really start flowing. Discussing & Reasoning Here are some possible questions that children could be asked to generate some discussions. How does the image relate to the words? Why do you think the bottom left square is different? And what could this represent? Why is the bottom left square a different colour to the rest? Why are all of the other shapes in a perfect pattern? If you were one of these squares, which one would you be? It’s important to remember that there does not have to be a right answer. The point of this is to give children an opportunity to express their thoughts through discussions and reasoning by ‘agreeing’ or ‘disagreeing’ with other children. How can Life By Shape resources help to build self-esteem and develop positive thinking? Each Life By Shape resource has a message of inspiration or motivation for children. Combined with discussions, all types of learners can access and understand important messages to build self-esteem and develop positive thinking.

SEND IEP template/Pupil Learning Passport

SEND IEP template/Pupil Learning Passport

The file included is an updated/new IEP template which is renamed ‘Pupil Learning Passport’. It is used successfully in conjunction with face-to-face parental meetings once per term. We allocated 20-25 minutes each for the Autumn term parental meetings and 10-15 minutes each for the Spring and Summer term meetings, although longer may be needed depending on the nature of the outcomes, progress made as well as the individual circumstances surrounding the pupil . Pupil Learning Passports (PLPs) can be used for SEND, LAC and disadvantaged pupils. What does it do? Outlines personal details and SEND category/categories Links to SEND ranges Outlines the pupil’s strengths, achievements and interests ( pupil discussions are held once a year prior to the first parental meeting). Outlines external agencies involved Outlines background information (status, medical and external agencies) Incorporates pupil voice - ‘barriers to learning’ and ‘I learn best when’ States outcomes and learning targets (Autumn, Spring and Summer) Outlines provision (intervention, resources, strategies and what I can do at home to help Tracks attainment and progress data Reviews outcomes Incorporates parent views Includes details of transition Why is it more effective? One document that is updated each term for one year and the follows the pupil into future year groups One document that tracks pupil progress for their whole school career from Reception to Y6, or whenever they join your school In-line with the SEND Code of Practice 2015, incorporating parent and pupil voice and views Sections are written in conjunction with the pupil It combines IEPs and Pupil Passports removing the need for two separate documents Links directly to SEND Provision Map Saves teachers time having ‘tick box’ options in various sections All relevant information needed for referrals is in one place All relevant information in one place to ensure all staff involved with the child is aware of provision, needs, resources and strategies Acts as a transition document (class to class/teacher to teacher, across Key stages and to new schools) Overall, it replaces a lot of singular documents and creates one meaningful and multi-purpose document for SEND pupils.
