1001 SATS Questions By Topic (Part 1)

1001 SATS Questions By Topic (Part 1)

I have been through every past SAT paper for mathematics at KS2 and selected the questions which are still relevant to the new curriculum. I have grouped the questions by topic and worked out the answers. I find it very convenient to have the questions grouped together in topics so that I can be certain that I have covered everything fully. I will be uploading sets of questions throughout this week – aiming to finish by Friday! When I have finished, there will be 1001 questions for you to use directly with your students or just as a reference. This set of questions focuses on statistics and covers: Pictograms Bar Charts Line Graphs Pie Charts Miscellaneous Charts Tables (inc. Timetables)

Quiz, Quiz Trade activity cards - Interpreting pictograms

Quiz, Quiz Trade activity cards - Interpreting pictograms

This is a great co-operative learning game for consolidating new learning in a fun and active way. Also great for revision. My classes enjoy the excuse to move around, work with different partners (and their friends) and have fun while learning. It does take some practice for them to get the hang of each step so I recommend playing more than once. (Great as a warm up game).

Problem Solving Lesson - Who Wrote This?

Problem Solving Lesson - Who Wrote This?

This lesson encourages students to use Maths that they know to try to solve a real world problem: Who wrote an anonymous document. The lesson is set up as an intriguing mystery and is solved in small groups, your students should be hooked from the start. There are many mathematical skills which students can employ to solve the mystery, and as students have the choice, there is natural differentiation baked in to this rich task. The powerpoint does suggest two possible avenues for students who struggle to come up with an idea. These use: averages relative frequency One extra note - this lesson is best used with larger classes, as no single technique is particularly accurate in isolation. The magic happens when each group compares their results and their combined solution becomes a lot more convincing.
