Das Leben der Anderen - Revision Booklet TO COMPLETE

Das Leben der Anderen - Revision Booklet TO COMPLETE

A 32 page booklet for pupils to complete on Das Leben der Anderen by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck. Includes pages to fill in with information about the main characters, key themes, cinematography and an analysis of 10 key scenes. Characters pages include descriptions and examples from the film, their role in the film, links to the main themes and how they change through the course of the film. Themes pages include humanity, power, the power of art, life in a dictatorship and what it means to be a good person. There are spaces for pupils to fill in key information on all they know and to cross reference the themes, characters and cinematography. Some parts are left deliberately blank for pupils to add their own ideas. Can be used alongside teaching to complete as a booklet to revise from or as a revision tool to see how much they know and where there are gaps in their knowledge. I printed as an A5 booklet and the students really liked the idea of having all their notes in one place. Please note - this is a booklet for students to complete and not a guide with answers. I’ve also created similar for Un Long Dimanche de Fiancailles and Die Verwandlung

KS5 GERMAN

KS5 GERMAN

A 5 slides Power Point to support your KS5 students for the Edexcel AS & A Level Speaking Exam (Part 1) It comes with its worksheet and can be added/ adapted to the needs of your students. It shows supportive and useful phrases as “Openers” to allow students focus only on the main ideas & arguments without missing out of high quality of language. There are some examples as advice. At the end there is a task, just two questions to be answered following the Formulierungshilfe given in the presentation. A smart way to deal in a natural way with the speaking Exam at A- Level. It helped massively my students! They had to learn by heart 3-4 phrases and link beautifully their arguments and evidence during their Exams. It saved them so much time during their preparation, as they could just focus on main ideas and not miss out from high aspects of Language. Please leave a comment if this helped your KS5 students. Enjoy!

(German Language) Nibelungenlied - Shorted Story and Resources

(German Language) Nibelungenlied - Shorted Story and Resources

This is a shortened form of the famous legend of the Nibelungs of Germany. The story is shortened into 5 sections for students to read and have a vocabulary presentation for each section. I’ve also made a background knowledge reading and research piece to help students understand more of the historical background of the piece. I’ve also included a video project guide and final test. Would take about 25 minutes a day for about 7 days or you could chunk it into a longer period of time. I like to break it up. Also…there is a movie you can buy that is pretty good and fun to watch afterwards! The story is fun and historically interesting. Viel Spass!

FIlmdossier Das Leben der Anderen - a starting point to help study the film

Including as many essay titles as I could find for both AS and A level (not many yet), this booklet is a first go at making one and has elements of ideas that I got from other people in it too. No claim to perfection and I would be very happy to hear other people's ideas as mine are drying up through exhaustion! I hope it helps someone else starting to teach the film.

Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei - writing paragraphs on characters and themes

Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei - writing paragraphs on characters and themes

Writing essays on films is a skill which students often struggle with, and it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what students need to do to improve their essays and get better marks. This is a sequence of exercises which lead students toward writing their own paragraphs which would score highly in the A Level exams by drawing evidence from the film and analysing it. The exercises will also deepen students' understanding of aspects of the film 'die fetten Jahre sind vorbei', and give them valuable practice of analysing the characters, events and themes of the film. Answers to the exercises are included (but for the full paragraph exercises, clearly many answers are possible).

Joyeux Noel (movie) Worksheet -- with answer sheet

Joyeux Noel (movie) Worksheet -- with answer sheet

Joyeux Noel is one of the greatest movies ever made, and I like to show it just before introducing a U.S. History segment on World War One. My wife, a French teacher, also shows it in her French classes. This worksheet has a variety of content-based questions requiring 1-3 sentence answers, along with a few that require outside research on the topics of international law and other issues. The questions are designed for a U.S. history class, but can be adapted for the cultural aspects of a French or German language class. Questions preceded with a “►” can be used as DBQs for longer 5x5 essays. – Thomas R. Eddlem

Zonenkinder Reading Tasks

Following the introduction resource, these 2 cover up to chapter 5. Given the students have the same edition, I could work with page numbers. Tasks include discussion questions, partly based on quotes from the text, some translations, comparisons etc. The intention is to either put in on Moodle or send it to the students, then use it as we go along, do some tasks in class, have some for hwk, allow some individual pace, use some of the questions for writing.

Musik zum Thema Grammatik für Fortgeschrittene SET 1

Musik zum Thema Grammatik für Fortgeschrittene SET 1

Enrich instruction by using my Musik zum Thema Grammatik für Fortgeschrittene sets. Have upper level students at A.2 level listen to authentic songs and then follow a set of text codes to analyze 5 of the grammatical structures used within the lryics. Students get to listen, analyze, build vocabulary and see their grammatical knowledge grow. In my classroom I introduce the song to the class and let them listen to it. Then I have them work on the grammatical analysis, following the text codes. Many of the concepts are familiar to them and some are new. When they come across new concepts I encourage them to look online to try and determine more information about that concept. This empowers them to use the web for a research purpose. The analysis worksheet included asks students to list the coded word/s, identify their grammatical name and give an additional example of the grammatical topic not listed in the song. This forces them to extend beyond what is just listed in the song and helps them to grow their grammatical competence. Each set has 3 German songs by recent artists of various genres. The sets include a PowerPoint slide show that includes the songs embedded, a song analysis worksheet, and the song lyrics with various grammatical concepts coded. The PowerPoint is editable for customization and I also provide the set in PDF form to share with students as well. Songs in this set: Set 1: Du bist die Sonne - Die Drogen (modals, accusative pronouns, coordinating conjunctions, accusative prepositions, da-compound) Erkläre mir die Liebe - Philipp Poisel (interrogatives, accusative pronouns, accusative prepositions, dative pronouns, dative prepositions) Krieger des Lichts- Silbermond (subordinating conjunctions, accusative pronouns, genitive, imperative, infinitive construction) More Song Sets Coming Soon in My Store!
