Year 12 A Level Statistics and Mechanics Powerpoint

This 270 slide Powerpoint covers all of the first year of the single A Level Applied course (based upon the Edexcel course). It includes explanations, worked examples and questions for students to do. I have included everything, possibly more than you may need but I’d rather give people the option to skip a slide than have to make something up on the spot. Colleagues of mine used this during the first year of the new course.

S3 Goodness of Fit and Contingency Tables Topic Mat

A mat to summarise key concepts from the S3 topic Goodness of Fit and Contingency Tables (Edexcel). This one is quite big so I put it onto A3 paper! I also include a suggestion for how the mat could be filled out. I usually use it as a plenary – ask the pupils for the key ideas from the lesson and collectively fill in sections over a sequence of lessons. At the end of a topic they have a topic mat from which to revise from. I also photocopy them on different coloured paper so they act as dividers in students’ folders.

S3 Estimation and Confidence Intervals Topic Mat

A mat to summarise key concepts from the S3 topic Estimation and Confidence Interval (Edexcel).

S1 Revision Quiz AQA GCE specification

32 revision questions based on all topics across the AQA specification, with all answers included. A total of 65 slides. Individual questions can be printed out or displayed on screen to reduce printing costs.

Statistics S1

S1 All 6 videos covering the main calculator techniques for AQA (statistics) on the Casio fx-9750gII

All 6 short videos covering the main calculator techniques for AQA S1 (statistics) on the Casio fx-9750gII An excellent resource to make available to students leading up to their AQA S1 exam. Each video is approximately 5 minutes long.

Mathematics Statistics 1 Lessons

Mathematics Statistics 1 Lessons This is a set of lessons for S1 Statistics 1 A level Mathematics. The resources includes Powerpoints. Powerpoint include: Learning objectives Questions on the topic Important information written in red boxes to scaffold learning. Topics: Introduction Averages Measures of Spread Correlation Regression Probability Binomial Normal Theory Confidence Interval Revision Poisson I hope you enjoy these lessons, they can be used in the following ways: To deliver a course with reduced planning but not reducing quality of the lesson. As a basis for an observation lesson to save time preparing resources. To give to students for out of lesson learning. To support teachers who are new to this topic, again to reduce planning time. As a bases for your own lessons where you can include exam questions to each presentation. As an activity where the questions can be printed and cut out.

Higher Statistics Module (SCQF Level 6) - Extended Notes

These notes complement my Course Notes for this SQA course. They include more further examples, more complicated statistical tests and links to Excel for examples.

Higher Statistics Module (SCQF Level 6) - Course Notes

These are extensive notes that I have made to teach this SQA Course. There are 49 pages including many example questions and follow ups on Excel. Also includes a course outline, essential exam skills and a practice exam with solutions.

Statistics and Probability

Discrete and continuous random variables, expectation algebra, chi-squares and goodness of fit, hypothesis testing, confidence levels CLT and distribution of sample means..

Central Limit Theorem and confidence intervals.

Introductions to CLT, distribution of sample means and confidence intervals for means and proportions.

AQA Statistics 1 on a page

Revision sheet for AQA Statistics 3. Could be printed out A4 to use as a revision aide-memiore or A3 to use as a poster.

Confidence Intervals demonstration on Excel

An Excel simulator does twenty samples each flipping a fair coin one hundred times. Each sample generates a confidence interval for the mean number of heads. On average, 19 out of the 20 confidence intervals will include the true mean of 50 heads, This simulation can be run many times (by pressing F9) and each time a new graph visually updates, showing how confidence intervals work. The number of flips and the probabilities can all be changed too.

Statistics 2

This bundle includes all the topics needed to cover the S2 AQA course including; Discrete and Continuous Random Variables Poisson Distribution Estimation Hypothesis Testing Chi-squared

Poisson Distribution and Estimation using t-distribution

A presentation that explains to the students what the Poisson distribution is and how to solve a range of problems using the Poisson distribution. This includes the graphs of Poisson distributions as well as the mean, variance and standard deviation. A presentation that introduces the t-distribution and how it is used for samples below a size of 30. It shows the students how to use the standard tables to find confidence intervals using t-distribution. SMART Notebook Express presentations can be used for free by using SMART online or by downloading SMART software, also free, I use it because it allows a more interactive presentation than a powerpoint. Just search 'SMART Notebook Express' and try it with my free SMART resource.

Central Limit Theorem and Confidence Intervals

Presentation and activity showing learners how the CLT works and how it can be used to produce confidence intervals. The initial activity demonstrates how plotting the students samples produces a normal distribution. Instructions, 1. Students collect samples of a given size 2. Teacher uses powerpoint to plot students results and discusses results 3. Repeat with bigger sample to show how the results cluster round the mean. SMART Notebook Express presentations can be used for free by using SMART online or by downloading SMART software, also free, I use it because it allows a more interactive presentation than a powerpoint. Just search 'SMART Notebook Express' and try it with my free SMART resource.

Statistics 1 AQA End of Topic Tests

These are 20 mark test sets for each topic within the Statistics 1 AQA Maths syllabus. Students write their solutions in the boxes provided. Any feedback would be very welcome. Enjoy! Em

Statistics: (S2) Normal distribution 4 - Approximation for the Binomial Distribution (+ worksheet)

This is the fourth of a series of lessons on the normal distribution. It is applicable for S2 in the UK, but international A-Level has this as a part of the S1 specification. 26 slides. This lesson needs to proceed lessons on the binomial and normal distributions, both available as a lesson in my shop. Specifically, this lesson is for teaching when to use the normal distribution as an approximation for a binomial distribution. It looks at why we use and looks in a lot of detail at common mistakes pupil's make in order for pupil's to avoid doing it and I have had excellent results on this topic using this resource. I have used the PowerPoint slides to structure the lesson and includes plenty of examples, superb teaching slides with lots of custom animation, keywords, learning objectives, differentiated questions and basic plenary. NOTE: Feel free to browse my resources for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thank you.

AQA S1 Past Paper Revision

A differentiated, PowerPoint-formatted version of all the 2006-2014 S1 past paper questions for AQA A-Level Statistics, listed by topics. Green - questions that appear towards the beginning of the paper (easy) Amber - questions that appear in the middle of the paper (medium) Red - questions that appear towards the end of the paper (hard) Any feedback would be appreciated and please let me know if there are any mistakes with the animations etc. Enjoy! Emma

S1 Revision Learning Grid

Students work in pairs and roll a pair of dice to select the question they should answer. Some squares indicate they should answer an exam question (these range in difficulty so you can differentiate for each pair) and some squares indicate they should be an examiner and mark other students answers. Contains a mixture of questions covered in AQA S1. 23/03/16 Error in the answers has been corrected.
