The Big Bang Theory TV Series Wordsearch Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

The Big Bang Theory TV Series Wordsearch Starter Settler Activity Homework Cover Lesson

Wordsearch on the theme of 'The Big Bang Theory'. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Mythbusters Video Questions: NASA Moon landing (22 Question Total)

Mythbusters Video Questions: NASA Moon landing (22 Question Total)

Video guide questions for the Mythbusters episode: Moon landing Hoax. Great to keep the students focused. Word for word from video. Link to stream episode online as well. Key included. Standards: (i) To develop a rich knowledge of science and the natural world, students must become familiar with different modes of scientific inquiry, rules of evidence, ways of formulating questions, ways of proposing explanations, and the diverse ways scientists study the natural world and propose explanations based on evidence derived from their work. (ii) Scientific investigations are conducted for different reasons. All investigations require a research question, careful observations, data gathering, and analysis of the data to identify the patterns that will explain the findings. Descriptive investigations are used to explore new phenomena such as conducting surveys of organisms or measuring the abiotic components in a given habitat. Descriptive statistics include frequency, range, mean, median, and mode. A hypothesis is not required in a descriptive investigation. On the other hand, when conditions can be controlled in order to focus on a single variable, experimental research design is used to determine causation. Students should experience both types of investigations and understand that different scientific research questions require different research designs. This lesson is student-centered meaning: --it allows you to become a facilitator --happier teachers --happier students --happier administrators

Shadows - Game, Vocabulary and Visual Story Prompts + 31 Fun Teaching Activities For The Classroom

Shadows - Game, Vocabulary and Visual Story Prompts + 31 Fun Teaching Activities For The Classroom

You could look at it directly as a presentation and discuss the different shadows being shown in each of the photos. I have collected together some of my best teaching resources about shadows and I think they would make a lovely lesson. There is the game of guess the shadow, followed by reviewing the key words about shadows and a creative writing task to complete. In addition, I have added a teacher guide which explains how to complete another 31 different fun tasks using these resources. You could print off and laminate the photos to make an interesting, eye-catching set of story prompts. The students could also take five of the laminated photos and create them into a story . The photos could also be used as prompts for creative writing, factual writing or descriptive writing.

Recycling

Recycling

Here's a resource for ks3 and ks4 on the topic of Recycling. The 23 slides cover the theory and contain tasks, prompts for class discussions, and activities for pupils. There are 2 case studies at the end where pupils have to do some calculations related to recycling. I've also included my own lesson plan / notes that I wrote in preparation for teaching this lesson. Enjoy!

AQA 9-1 GCSE Combined Science - Waves (PPT + worksheets)

AQA 9-1 GCSE Combined Science - Waves (PPT + worksheets)

This bundle contains a 100+ slide PPT presentation covering the GCSE Physics topic of Waves (topic 6): Included with the PPT (which has plenty of diagrams and talking points along side the most important theory) are several question sheets and a revision poster, as well as adapted sheets for the two required practicals. The lessons cover: - Types of waves - Wave properties & the wave equation - Reflection (technically GCSE Physics only but is pretty basic; the ray diagrams can be skipped) - Refraction - Diffraction (not explicitly mentioned in the spec but is relevant to using waves for communication) - Sound waves (technically GCSE Physics only again but links well with frequency, amplitude, etc) - Electromagnetic spectrum - Waves for communication - Dangers of radiation Please note that a few key topics for the GCSE Physics only are not included (e.g. lenses). For now this bundle is aimed at the Combined Science specification (and will likely not change this year)
