AQA GCSE Physics Equations Flash Cards

AQA GCSE Physics Equations Flash Cards

The PowerPoint can be printed to provide a series of flash cards that will aid students in memorising the equations needed to pass the GCSE Physics exam. Student need to print the slides with 2 slides per page (big version) or 6 slides per page (mini version). There are twenty two equation as power, energy transferred and time appear twice on the AQA spec equation sheet. Cut each box out and fold along the dashed line to create back to back flash cards. On each card you are given the name of the variables that you should be able to identify in the exam question. On one slide you have the matching units that you need to memorise to check if you need to convert any values in the exam question. On the second slide you have the equation triangle, that you need to memorise, so you can rearrange the equation and answer the question.

Plum Pudding Model

Plum Pudding Model

This lesson was designed to deliver to KS4 but can be altered for lower levels if required. Also a useful tie in for the physics topic on ‘radiation’. Goes through the history of the atom from Ancient Greece, John Dalton, JJ Thomson and finally the Rutherford experiment. Animation shows the different paths the alpha particles took and enables the students to visualise how the different paths helped to explain the nuclear model and disprove the plum pudding. Plenary is exam style questions with answers provided.

Maisie Day Resources / KS2 & KS3 Literacy & Science

Maisie Day Resources / KS2 & KS3 Literacy & Science

Based on award-winning author Christopher Edge’s novel The Infinite Lives of Maisie Day, the activities in this pack will ask students to consider the infinite questions of our universe: from the Big Bang Theory, to the science of Entropy, the never-ending loop of the Möbius strip and the existence of Black Holes. This resource pack can be used with all children from KS2 through to KS3, recommended ages 9+, giving teachers the flexibility to differentiate as needed. It has a dual Literacy and Science focus, the final objective being for students to use the mind-blowing and fascinating facts of the universe to inspire their own creative writing.

AQA Physics formula flashcard revision - Unit 1

AQA Physics formula flashcard revision - Unit 1

Differentiated revision resource that contains all of the formulas that need to be recalled by students for the AQA Physics Unit 1 examinations (Triple and Trilogy) with practice exam style questions and answers for each formula (apply, rearrange and convert). The aim of these flash cards is to improve the recall and application of the formula required in the AQA GCSE 9-1 Physics examinations. They have proved very popular with students as a way of developing their confidence of the maths content within physics unit 1 resulting in dramatic progress in this area. Includes SI unit conversion hint sheet. Included is a PDF guaranteed to print out correctly formatted and .ppt version in case you wish to make any modifications. Instructions The front of the flash card asks the user to recall an equation that links values e.g. the formula that links energy, power and time and to write the SI units of each. This should be done on a separate piece of paper before the flash card is turned over. Turn over the flash card to check recall of the formula and units. 1 point for each correct section. On the back there are 3 differentiated exam style questions. Solve these questions (writing down all working out) using the formula and units above. You can use the conversion hint sheet below to help with the conversion questions. Solve all questions before turning over the card again to reveal the answers (upside down on the front). 1 point for each correct answer. Make pile of cards that you scored 0,1,2,3,4 and 5 marks on. Take a break and then try again on the cards that you did not score 5 marks on. If you can move all cards into the 5 marks pile you will have an excellent knowledge of the formula required for the AQA physics exam.
