Print the 16 Scavenger Hunt cards on card stock or brightly -colored paper and cut them apart along the black lines. Make copies of the Scavenger Hunt questions worksheet. Each student needs a copy. Place the Scavenger Hunt cards around your classroom where students will be able to find them. You can put them on chairs, on the computer keyboard, on the back of your classroom door, on the sides of student desks, on the chalkboard or wherever you like. Students have to search the room and find all of the sentence cards to answer the questions. You can differentiate by having students work alone or with a classmate

Design and Technology - Inventions - Constructing an Orrery (Small Scale Solar System).

Within the attached documents is a 6 week project outlined through a Medium Term Plan explained in detail week by week steps. This includes: investigation, design, making and evaluation of the invention. I followed the video attached with the children when it came to the actual making stage (stopping and starting the video as necessary). This meant I had to pre-watch the video and order/make the required materials needed for the entire class. I split the children into groups of 3 and made 10+ Orreries at the same time. The children loved the project and got to use equipment such as: small hand saws, hot glue guns and small hammers. There is also an opportunity to show case completed work in assembly etcetera…
