Algebra: Inequalities 4 - Shading Regions - Linear Graphs ( + superb worksheets)

Algebra: Inequalities 4 - Shading Regions - Linear Graphs ( + superb worksheets)

This is one of my favourite PowerPoints going through the very interesting topic of shading regions or showing inequalities in graph form. This is the second of 2 whole lessons!! The first lesson introduces the topic and looks at parallel lines and lines in the form x + y = ... the second lesson looks at "normal" linear graphs, which is much more challenging and tends to be only a higher topic. It comes with 5 worksheets for different ability classes and to help you differentiate for different ability students within your class. It also importantly comes with answers and blank graph sheets. This PPT contains lots of different examples with lots of custom animation, so it is very clear to help you teach this visual topic. This PowerPoint has been very effective at teaching this topic. Number: Upper and Lower Bounds 2 - Area and Problems (+ worksheet)

Number: Upper and Lower Bounds 2 - Area and Problems (+ worksheet)

This is a whole lesson, and the second lesson building on the introduction to upper and lower bounds, which looked at finding the bounds of a single amount. The lesson looks at more complicated area and other problems involving bounds. It has plenty of different examples with excellent teaching slides. It is appropriate for higher tier classes at GCSE as it involves the most challenges questions on this topic. If you are looking for the material only for foundation level or KS3 then lesson one is ideal. Both lessons on bounds include good starters, plenty of examples, lots of questions, a differentiated leveled worksheet with answers. Learning objectives, key words and plenary. This is a very clear two lessons and has been very effective at teaching the full spectrum of questions that could up on this topic. Quadratic Equations Worksheet Pack

Quadratic Equations Worksheet Pack

This pack was designed for one-to-one work but translates well to whole class work as well. I have found it useful to complete the work with a computer graphing package alongside - students can immediately see the solutions to their equations on the graph. Worksheets cover: Expansion of two and three binomials; Factorisation of quadratics (simple and harder - coefficient of x^2 higher than 1); solving by factorisation (simple and harder - coefficient of x^2 higher than 1); identifying whether a factorisation involves one or two brackets; Quadratic Formula; Completing the Square; Simplifying Algebraic Fractions and Quadratic Inequalities. An answer pdf is included, with my handwritten solutions to the questions. I have worked through all of the questions but if you see a mistake, please let me know. Questions range in difficulty and I have tried to include some tricky numbers towards the end of each exercise, to help students develop strategies to deal with harder numbers - particularly useful for the non-calculator papers. All the pages have an indication as to whether the topic is applicable to Foundation and Higher, or Higher only.

Inequalities Bundle English and Spanish

Inequalities Bundle English and Spanish

This Math and Matematicas activity bundle contains both English and Spanish versions. It will allow your students to practice their basic inequalities skills and vocabulary knowledge in either language. This activity is a matching activity and contains three sets of cards, each set has 12 cards; 12 verbal description cards, 12 inequalities cards and 12 graphical representation cards. The Inequalities Cards Activity can be use as: 1. Independent center activity: the students can practice their knowledge of inequalities. You can print the cards in card stock, and laminate them for maximum durability. The answer key can be included allowing the students to correct their own work. 2. Whole class activity: the students work in pairs or groups matching the cards (include the student instructions, the 3 sets of cards, and the recording sheet). 3. Math Interactive Notebook: students can cut the different cards, match them and glue them in their notebook. This activity can also be tiered to meet the needs of the students in your classroom: • (ELL) Newcomers: students can pair the cards using the Spanish version and compare with the English version to acquire content vocabulary. • Level Activity: students will match the 3 corresponding representations in English and record their answers. • Advanced Activity: working independently or in pairs, students work on the page Inequality Challenge Sheet, or they are given only one set of cards. Giving one inequality representation, either verbal, graphical, or just the inequality, students will generate the other two missing inequality representation. This activity includes in English and Spanish: Teacher guide, student instructions, 12 verbal description cards, 12 inequalities cards, 12 graphical representation cards, answer key, inequalities matching recording sheet (answer sheet) and advanced students activity page (inequality challenge).
