Do a live draw (probability) Play top trumps (number values) Draw the geometry of the pitch (rectangles, circles, diamond formations!) Students get to create diagrams, run surveys and calculate statistics and present data on a topic that is topical and exciting!

#### History of the metric system

A presentation to get pupils thinking a about the origins of the metric system. There’s quite a lot of information in there, but I think its interesting so I’m going to make my pupils look at it! There are no worksheets or ‘usual’ metric questions, but I’ve put some follow up questions and possible activities in the comments boxes on each slide. #### Area and Perimeter Treasure Hunt

Smatboard file duplicated on PDF with a 10 question treasure hunt at two different levels. Students to select the correct answer on all 10 questions that relate to a letter, They are to then unscramble the letters to find a word. Answer is Pythagoras.

#### Regular Polygon Area Problems

This is a problem solving activity/worksheet that tests multiple levels of understanding related to the topic of area of regular polygons. They are high-level problems to test the most able, although a hint/formula sheet is included to help “differentiate down”. Also included is a differentiated/scaffolded sheet to help break the questions down, too for lower ability. Overall use of surds, Pythagoras Theorem and area formula for polygons are tested. Answers are provided in both surd format and to 2 decimals places.

#### Area of compound/composite shapes

The power point has been attached to allow for easy changes to be made and to duplicate questions with different numbers etc. Differentiated questions are attached on a printable word document. Colour coordinated for visual. From basic compound shapes of two rectangles, moving on to include parallelograms, triangles and trapeziums. Final challenge will include circles and problem solving. I laminated these cards and used mini whiteboards to take the children outside of the classroom. The worksheet is further practice and is not something I created myself, but useful for consolidation as a homework. Also differentiated.

#### Higher Non Calc Problem solving questions with answers, from Edexcel Problem sets

I have put together a selection of problems from the Edexcel problem solving packs 2, 3 and 4. The questions should all be suitable for the non calculator papers and include solutions. I have also included some questions that are deemed to be calculator paper questions but can be answered without a calculator to further enhance and practise problem solving skills. I printed them out on A3 sheets and allowed students to work as a group of 3 -4 to solve the problems - feedback from students was positive.

#### Functional Skills math converting between metric units crib sheet

This is a simple flow diagram style help sheet for converting metric units. I use this as part of my metric units lesson. I have highlighted the key conversions that are needed to be remembered for both level 1 and level 2 functional skills maths exams. #### Harry Potter and the Conversion of Units

A student asked me to do a resource involving Harry Potter; we are doing unit conversion soon so this is what occurred. There are two tasks, one converting metric units (including a challenge involving areas and volumes) and a second converting between metric and imperial. I downloaded a font from dafont.com for free so if you want to edit the worksheets (I have included the Word versions so you can do so) you will have to download the font too.

This is a geometry project for you to teach your students. This really fits in with when you are studying geometry. This project is best used as homework as this is how the booklet has been structured. Feel free to edit in any way you want to.
