Trig Function Murder Mystery - Unknown Sides/Angles, Unit Circle, Word Problems

Trig Function Murder Mystery - Unknown Sides/Angles, Unit Circle, Word Problems

A murder mystery that requires students to use their knowledge of basic trigonometric functions to find the killer! Students will be led through 5 puzzles to find clues leading to the killer. Puzzles require students to use knowledge of finding unknown sides and angles using sine, cosine and tangent, solving word problems, converting radians to degrees and unit circles. After solving the 5 clues, only one suspect will be left. Need to change a puzzle for your specific class! It's easy to change any of the puzzles as long as the clue matches up! Answer key included!

GCSE 9-1 Exam Question Practice (Sine and Cosine Rule)

GCSE 9-1 Exam Question Practice (Sine and Cosine Rule)

This carefully selected compilation of exam questions has fully-worked solutions designed for students to go through at home. This can save a lot of valuable time in class. Click -->https://tes.com/.../Exam Question Practice to download question compilations on 40 other topics. -- These 'booklets' cover the full range of skills expected at GCSE for each topic. This particular booklet starts with standard questions requiring the use of the sine or cosine rule and then develop into problem-type questions. The ones at the end should get even your best students thinking. I usually print these questions as an A5 booklet and issue them in class or give them out as a homework. I also make them available for a student who wants to do independent study.

Trigonometry - SOHCAHTOA

A complete lesson on using and applying Trigonometry to right angled triangles which is suitable for the new curriculum. Pupils are given the chance to master the fluency of this topic aswell as work on reasoning and problem solving tasks. All tasks are differentiated to 3 levels all with solutions and offer lots of consolidation as well as alot of challenge. Can be used with KS3/KS4.

16 Trigonometry Task Cards - Word Problems Finding Unknown Sides and Angles

This is a set of 16 trigonometry task cards requiring students to use knowledge of basic trig functions to find unknown sides and angles. Students will be required to use all the trig functions and some inverses to find unknown values. We've also incorporated a little cross curricular fun by adding some of the most famous and tallest buildings into the word problems. These are sure to be a hit! Trigonometry Relay Race (CCSS.HSF.TF.B.7)

We've made a trigonometry version of our beloved relay race! In the trigonometry relay race, students are required to use knowledge of: - sine, cosine, tangent - inverse to determine angles - converting degrees to radians and radians to degrees - the unit circle - finding unknown sides using trig functions - exact values of common angles - relationships between sine, cosine and tangent Now with an answer key and equation bank! Our students always love the relay race and is our favorite review for students.

Trig Functions Scavenger Hunt - Finding Side Lengths and Angles (CCSS.HSF.TF.B.7

In this scavenger hunt students will use trigonometric functions to determine missing side lengths or unknown angles. Students will use sine, cosine, tangent and their inverses. Students can start at any poster, solve the problem, and find the answer on another poster. If done correctly they will end up back where they started. Scavenger hunts are a great way for students to take ownership of their work and use self-assessment techniques. If you enjoyed this lesson please leave us feedback and a follow! Trig Ratios Stations (CCSS.HSF.TF.B.7)

This is a set of 10 stations requiring students to determine unknown side lengths or angles. QR codes are provided on each station for students to check their answers. Our students also needed extra practice identifying the proper sides of a triangle so that is included as well on 5 stations. We had our students start with these 5 first to make sure their understanding of triangle sides was adequate. This lesson was a resounding success on reviewing and practicing unknown side lengths and angles. Students were required to use sine, cosine and tangent. They will also need to know the inverse functions to solve for the unknown angles. You may also like: Unit Circle Values Scavenger Hunt Complex Number Scavenger Hunt nth Roots Scavenger Hunt

Unit Circle Values Scavenger Hunt (CCSS.HSF.TF.A.3)

This great activity is a self-checking loop of problems. This set is all to do with finding specific of cosine and sine of a given angle . Students choose to start with any question they'd like, determine the answer, and look for it around the room. Once they find the answer, they complete the question on that specific page. The questions are in a big loop so when the student returns back to their original page, they are finished. This is a fantastic way to have a self-checking review. Students know immediately if they did something wrong with their calculations. It also allows students to spread out and work at their own pace. Note: The answers specifically leave out the angles as to not give students the answers as they move around from problem to problem.
