Algebra: Cubic Graphs & Factor Theorem (+ resources) - perfect for higher tier & AS level

Algebra: Cubic Graphs & Factor Theorem (+ resources) - perfect for higher tier & AS level

This is a whole lesson. 20 slides. It starts looking at drawing cubic graphs, before quickly moving on to looking at sketching them and developing the understanding and skills to do so. It looks at working out the key points needed and using the factor theorem and factorising in order to do so. The lesson comes with a starer, several little MWB activities, worksheet, excellent teaching slides, a handout of all the different graphs and plenary. NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thank you.

One Variable Equation / Linear Equation Lesson Ppt

One Variable Equation / Linear Equation Lesson Ppt

These are the lessons plans and power points for one variable / linear equations. One variable is a more suitable description, as the lessons eventually leads to some very demanding multi (5+) steps, repeated fraction questions, as well as questions where the unknown initially appears on both sides. Students are first introduced to the basic principles of algebra which stealthily guides all that they do. Then they apply that knowledge to learn strategies to solve one variable equations. There are three lessons, and should be taught in that order. The bundle contains both the lesson presentations with 'overlay animations', where steps are reviewed one at a time. There is also an accompanying presenter view pdf for teachers for each lesson ppt. The documents are prepared meticulously with LaTeX, I hope you find these useful. In addition, you can get unlimited number of high quality practice questions and solutions for linear equations on my website: www.onemathsquestions.com You can generate the worksheets yourself, and each question will come with a set of very detailed step by step solutions, set out in exactly the same way as the lesson presentation examples. PS: Any comments or suggestions are very welcome, through TES or my website. In addition, if you need a particular type of question, you can ask me to make them for you (for free), sometimes I may just do it for you! Best wishes, Joe

Function inverses multiple choice misconception quiz

Function inverses multiple choice misconception quiz

Find the correct inverse of the displayed function from the four choices. Only one is ever correct, and the others are designed to find misconceptions. Slides are timed and move on automatically. It is deliberately similar to a Kahoot quiz, as I can't figure our how to display decent mathematical notation on there, but like the way it is done generally. Answers included at the end.

Composite functions and Inverse functions (new GCSE grade 9-1 content) - 3 LESSONS!

Composite functions and Inverse functions (new GCSE grade 9-1 content) - 3 LESSONS!

Ideal resource for teaching the new GCSE (Grade 9-1) topic of composite functions and inverse functions. There is enough material for 2 to 3 lessons. Split into four sections. Each has examples that the teacher can model, questions pupils can practice (+ answers!). Section 1: Substituting values into functions, e.g. f(-1) when f(x) = 2x - 5 Substituting values into composite functions e.g. fg(2) when f(x) = 2x + 1 and g(x) = 3x - 1 Section 2: Using composite functions, e.g. Work out fg(x) when f(x) = x² + 1 and g(x) = x - 3 Section 3: Solving functions and composite functions, e.g. Solve f(x) = 0 when f(x) = 2x - 7 e.g. Solve f(x) = g(x) when f(x) = x - 5 and g(x) = x² - 2 Section 4 : Using inverse functions, e.g. f¯¹(x) when f(x) = 2x - 1 or f¯¹(x) when f(x) = x/x + 3 Plenty of material for 2 to 3 lessons across these topics -answers to questions included.
