DIFFERENTIATED REVISION GRIDS: FOUNDATION GCSE TOPICS

DIFFERENTIATED REVISION GRIDS: FOUNDATION GCSE TOPICS

Three differentiated grids for quick fire revision created to help students review the content of our first module of study in school. Ideal for preparation for end of module examinations or homeworks. Each grid contains 20 questions based on number skills, ratio, proportion, simple algebra manipulation, angle theory, perimeter. There is an easy version (1 star) and a harder version (2 star) and students can select (or be guided) to the side that they wish to attempt. All in all 120 questions…but no answers (you have to work them out yourselves!).

Measurement Unit of Work Planning Ideas

Measurement Unit of Work Planning Ideas

A set of lesson plans aimed at designing a way through units of measurement and specific elements of shape. Each lesson can take up to 2 sessions so with 10 lessons there are up to 20 sessions of planning ideas here. Can be used to design PowerPoints that then run the lesson before creating worksheets that practise or take elements further. I have used White Rose materials to then help me with this but you may have resources, workbooks or sheets that you would rather use. The primary purpose of this resource is to give ideas of how to design lessons, not provide the lessons themselves.

Area of a triangle

Area of a triangle

A complete lesson for introducing the area rule for a triangle. Activities included: Starter: Questions to check pupils can find areas of parallelograms (I always teach this first, as it leads to an explanation of the rule for a triangle). Main: Examples and a worksheet where pupils must identify the height and measure to estimate area. Examples and a worksheet where pupils must select the relevant information from not-to-scale diagrams. Simple extension task of pupils drawing as many different triangles with an area of 12 as they can. Plenary: A sneaky puzzle with a simple answer that reinforces the basic area rule. Printable worksheets and answers included. Please review it if you buy as any feedback is appreciated!

Area problem solving lesson

Area problem solving lesson

A complete lesson of area puzzles. Designed to consolidate pupils’ understanding of the area rules for rectangles, parallelograms, triangles and trapeziums, but in an interesting, challenging and at times open-ended way. Activities included: Starter: Some questions to check pupils are able to use the four area rules. Main: A set of 4 puzzles with a progression in difficulty, where pupils use the area rules, but must also demonstrate a knowledge of factors and the ability to test combinations systematically in order to find the answers. Plenary Pupils could peer-assess or there could be a whole-class discussion of the final puzzle, which is more open-ended. Printable worksheets and answers included. Please review if you buy as any feedback is appreciated!
