AS/AL Mathematics - Statistics Tarsias (Binomial and Normal)

AS/AL Mathematics - Statistics Tarsias (Binomial and Normal)

Two tarsias to help with the teaching and learning of the A-level Statistics element of A-level Mathematics. The Binomial matches a distribution B(n, p) with two of q, mean, variance and s.d. The Normal aims to use the calculator functions (in the absence of tables in the 2017 specifications) to match a distribution N(mean, var) to probabilities.

IB Math SL TI-Nspire Statistics & Probability Calculator Guide

IB Math SL TI-Nspire Statistics & Probability Calculator Guide

This guide is helpful for students and teachers in International Baccalaureate Math Standard Level. This 6 page document covers three main topics: Statistics, Binomial Distribution, and Normal Distribution. The guide instructs students on what buttons to press and what each of the features will do. From adding spreadsheets, analyzing a set of data, finding the linear regression, using the binomial pdf and cdf features, and using the normal pdf and cdf and inverse Norm features, this guide is a create tool to summarize what the students need to know for the calculator portion of the IB Math SL test. There are a few short examples (with answers provided) for students to test their understanding of the calculator features.

Statistics: Binomial Distribution 2 - Solving Problems / Calculating Probabilities (+ worksheet)

Statistics: Binomial Distribution 2 - Solving Problems / Calculating Probabilities (+ worksheet)

This is a whole lesson (18 sides) plus worksheet building on the first fantastic lesson on the topic. It has a starter, learning objectives, key words, then looks at specific examples of questions, with some great teaching slides, built in activities to test and develop understand, a worksheet with answers and plenary. This comes as one of three lessons on the binomial lesson and 4 if you include using the normal approximation. NOTE: Feel free to visit my shop for many more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thank you.

Statistics: Normal Distribution Bundle (4 Lessons) - Perfect for S1 and S2

Statistics: Normal Distribution Bundle (4 Lessons) - Perfect for S1 and S2

This is four excellent lessons. All the lessons are approximately 25 slides and should be enough for a long double A-Level lesson (1hr 40 - 2hours) Lesson 1 - Standard Normal / Introduction Lesson 2 - Non Standard / Standardizing Lesson 3 - Backwards and Problems Lesson 4 - Approximation for Binomial Distribution NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thank you.

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 2 - Non / Not Standard (+ Worksheet)

Statistics: (S1) Normal Distribution 2 - Non / Not Standard (+ Worksheet)

This is the second of four lessons on the normal distribution, which builds on the first lesson that introduced the topic by looking at what to do when data is not in the standard normal form. This is an excellent resource, with lots and lots of excellent teaching slides, 21 slides. Specifically this lesson is for teaching what is the normal distribution is, the criteria for using it and how and HOW TO STANDARDISE, and again how to use look up tables to solve problems that are in a standard normal form having standardised. I have also included questions I often used with accompanying mark scheme. Binomial Coin Flipping Simulation

Binomial Coin Flipping Simulation

You can choose how many coins you want to flip (up to 10), and whether you are interested in Heads or Tails. Press Flip, and the spreadsheet will count up how many there are and graph the distribution created.

Binomial Distribution Creator - four dice

Binomial Distribution Creator - four dice

A spreadsheet that randomly rolls four dice and counts the number of 5s in each trial, graphing them as it goes along. The second version (different choices) allows you to change the number that gives a successful trial.
