Lesson on Straight Line Equation Applications 2 (Even harder problems)

Lesson on Straight Line Equation Applications 2 (Even harder problems)

This is a lesson on even more demanding straight line equations application problems - perpendicular bisectors, more intersections, triangular areas etc. The bundle contains both the lesson presentations with 'overlay animations', where steps are reviewed one at a time. There is also an accompanying presenter view pdf for teachers for each lesson ppt. The documents are prepared meticulously with LaTeX, I hope you find these useful. In addition, you can get unlimited number of high quality practice questions and solutions for both lessons on my website: www.onemathsquestions.com. You can generate the worksheets yourself, and each question will come with a set of very detailed step by step solutions, set out in exactly the same way as the lesson presentation examples. Hope you find these useful, and if you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to contact me through TES or my website. Best wishes, Joe

.... is saving for (aka Linear relationships)

.... is saving for (aka Linear relationships)

Christine is saving for a holiday. She is able to save some money per month. To get started Christine's grandparents are going to put in $500. This is the starting scenario - look at saving $50 per month and then two other options. Looking at the relationship between graph, table and equation of the data in the tables and investigate the link to gradient and y-intercept. A starting place for a unit on linear graphs (if students don't know gradient, teach it in context or skip that part)

Battle'kins! A halloween themed game based on coordinates and battleships.

Battle'kins! A halloween themed game based on coordinates and battleships.

A resource which can be used as a lesson, revision or as a fun activity in the lead up to Halloween. Children take on the teacher. The teacher plots their pumpkins(15-20) around their grid. It is the job of the children to 'smash' all the pumpkins in the least number of guesses possible. Teachers can decide on rewards for successful hits. A bonus reward is to be given if a child finds the witch! The game can also be played in pairs, without the teacher's involvement. The grids are provided and there a 3 levels of difficulty.

Lesson on Equations of Straight Lines

Lesson on Equations of Straight Lines

These are two starter lessons on equations of straight lines. The first is on sketching, and focus on gradient interpretation and the connection between a line and its equation. The second is on finding line equations in general. X and Y Intercept Matching Activity

X and Y Intercept Matching Activity

This matching activity is designed to be practice for students in finding the x- and y-intercepts of a graph and from an equation. Students will have to use critical thinking skills in order to match the three sets. Finding intercepts is a difficult task for students to attain. This practice will help students see the relation between an ordered pair, equation of a line and a graphed line.

Algebra: Inequalities 4 - Shading Regions - Linear Graphs ( + superb worksheets)

Algebra: Inequalities 4 - Shading Regions - Linear Graphs ( + superb worksheets)

This is one of my favourite PowerPoints going through the very interesting topic of shading regions or showing inequalities in graph form. This is the second of 2 whole lessons!! The first lesson introduces the topic and looks at parallel lines and lines in the form x + y = ... the second lesson looks at "normal" linear graphs, which is much more challenging and tends to be only a higher topic. It comes with 5 worksheets for different ability classes and to help you differentiate for different ability students within your class. It also importantly comes with answers and blank graph sheets. This PPT contains lots of different examples with lots of custom animation, so it is very clear to help you teach this visual topic. This PowerPoint has been very effective at teaching this topic. NOTE: Feel free to browse my shop for more excellent free and premium resources and as always please rate and feedback, thanks.
