The Red Moon - A Lower Primary Assembly about caring for the Environment

The Red Moon - A Lower Primary Assembly about caring for the Environment

This assembly is aimed at Lower Primary age range. It uses a story about the Red Moon to focus on simple environmental issues appropriate to 4-9 year olds. It introduces vocabulary about the environment and considers a few simple things that schools can do towards protecting their local area inviting children to “pledge” to change one thing. IMPORTANT The license for using this assembly in your own class is £3, but if you wish to use this resource for a whole school assembly you will need to purchase the school license. If you like this assembly and are looking for others for throughout the school year, you will find it more economical to purchase themes from Mirrorassemblies.co.uk where your school can subscribe to any number of themes for periods from one term to 5 years. This will allow you access to all new assembly materials added to that theme or those themes instantly. Mirror Assemblies also provide ready-made assemblies including scripts presentations and linked music in the form of a presentation which encourages thought and reflection as a warm-up for the main part of the assembly. Shelf Life Pack: Chelsea Physic Garden

Shelf Life Pack: Chelsea Physic Garden

https://www.chelseaphysicgarden.co.uk/teaching-resources Shelf Life The Shelf Life resource pack is a cross curricular resource for teachers of pupils at all ages. Shelf Life is a collection of plants growing in the packaging of foods, drinks, cosmetics and medicines. Examples include a tomato plant growing from a bottle of tomato ketchup, wheat from a bag of bread, an orange plant from a carton of orange juice or a willow sapling from an aspirin bottle. It is a reminder of our reliance upon nature and prompts you to ask the question: How many plants have I used today? 15 years ago, Shelf Life was devised by Chelsea Physic Garden’s Education Department to illustrate the diversity of the plant kingdom and also to make the link between our everyday products and their plant origins. Many of the younger visitors to Chelsea Physic Garden (around 2,500 per year) are very surprised – and often quite disgusted – that their meals may have come from plants. When they see tomatoes in a ketchup bottle, potatoes growing in a crisp packet and mint in a toothpaste tube, the message sinks in. Our Shelf Life Resource Pack includes: • Information about 22 plants in our everyday lives - with plant profiles and tips on how to grow them and create your very own display • Games to try out • Curriculum-linked ideas and activities (e.g. the history of slavery and the evolution of packaging) • An extensive bibliography of links and suggested reading We have split the pack into 5 volumes This resource aims to encourage schools to grow their own Shelf Life and provides information about how to do this. There is background information on some easily-sourced and commonly found plants (growing tips and profiles - including all sorts of facts - botany, history, geography, food and nutrition and links to art, music and literature) in Volumes1, 2 and 3. In Volume 4 there are suggestions of classroom based activities to link Shelf Life with the curriculum at every key stage. In Volume 5 are suggestions of classroom based games to link Shelf Life with the curriculum at every key stage. • Volume 1: Aloe to Citrus (PDF/9.5MB) • Volume 2: Cotton to Peanut (PDF/7.6MB) • Volume 3: Pineapple to Wheat (PDF/8.8MB) • Volume 4: Activities section (PDF/7MB) • Volume 5: Games section (PDF/5MB) We welcome your feedback on these.

Interactive Music Note Reading game-Google Slides /Adobe Reader-Outdoor Adventures

Interactive Music Note Reading game-Google Slides /Adobe Reader-Outdoor Adventures

Outdoor Adventures -Music Note Reading Game is an interactive outdoor themed Music game designed for both Google Slides and Adobe Reader (PDF). It allows students go on a virtual adventure visiting different scenes to help the children with practicing their music skills and provide teachers an opportunity to assess students in the process. Students will learn about various woodland animals and outdoor activities in the process of practicing math skills. Students pick a person or animal while searching for forest friends. In the process, they get music questions to practice. When they get it correct, they learn an interesting fact about the animal or the activity pictured. This is a great back to school review activity or one to play any time during the year! It is a great way to integrate technology into the classroom and differentiate instruction. It also helps students (especially second language learners) develop language skills and vocabulary development. But, most importantly, it provides lots of fun while learning about Music! When designing this product, I was thinking of how my own students love to take turns playing games in my class. They can’t get enough of it and always want “another turn.” This product has plenty of opportunities for students to have several turns during one class, or over several class periods. This game can be projected for a class to play at once or used on an iPad or tablet for individual for small group/center play. It can be assigned through Google Classroom as a way to practice skills independently. It takes the place of flash cards! Each location is like a mini game It can be played over one or several class periods. LOTS of content here! I hope your students enjoy Outdoor Adventures Interactive Music Symbols and Terms Game as much as my students have! What’s included: Google Slides link and QR code Adobe PDF game Suggestions for Gameplay Scoring Sheets Score cards
