Wheels Go Round - Video Song Pack for your KS1 Transport/Vehicle?Travel/Family Topic

Wheels Go Round - Video Song Pack for your KS1 Transport/Vehicle?Travel/Family Topic

This digital song pack is the ideal musical accompaniment to your cross-curricular Transport topic. We are literally saving you from ever having to sing The Wheels on the Bus ever again! This original song is contemporary, upbeat and super-easy to learn. It's ideal for EY/Reception all through KS1. The signs/actions are great fun and the silly lyrics include signs for family members as well as different modes of transport. The song pack includes a teaching video for Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) screen or any device which shows songwriter Al Start singing & signing the song and a simple shaker part if you want to include a little percussion into the mix. Lyric and chord sheets plus the audio track itself mean you can take it off-screen when the children have learned the song, and play or sing along in assembly or a show. This is another of our most requested songs, see the Teaching Notes for additional lesson plan suggestions and ideas for taking things further. Simply play the video to the children and they will copy their parts. No musical experience needed to teach this as a music lesson or add it to your topic as part of your learning journey; let us take the stress out of music teaching!

Interactive reveal quiz template

Interactive reveal quiz template

This is an interactive PowerPoint template that allows people to create reveal quizzes with scoring - it uses macros and so sadly will only work on PCs and they need to be enabled when the PowerPoint is run. A sample quiz of famous landmarks is included to demonstrate how it works. When using the template add pictures to the PowerPoint slides and then cover these pictures with autoshapes (rectangles, ovals, stars etc) and for each covering shape type on a points value - the more important what the shape covers the higher the number of points. Instructions are given on slide 3 too. This is the first version of this template so please send me constructive feedback, including ways it can be enhanced.

School Streets Audit - real world road safety learning around school

School Streets Audit - real world road safety learning around school

This lesson involves discussion in the classroom, followed by walks following routes in the immediate school area, then further discussion in the classroom. The lesson is suitable for all classes, from Nursery to Primary 7, with discussions modified according to the year taught. The school streets audit could be carried out by one class or year group. Alternatively, each class within the school could take a route from the school to involve the whole school in conducting an audit. There are a number of objectives relevant to carrying out the School Streets Audit: • To learn about road safety in a real-world context • To contribute evidence to a School Travel Plan • To identify areas where safety could be improved by infrastructure (speed bumps, double yellow lines, crossings, etc) in order to request such improvements from the Local Authority.

Two photocopiable sheets are included – an information sheet for parents and the ‘To School and Back Again’ table. The project can be run in one class or as a whole-school homework task. Below are some of the reasons for using the ‘To School and Back Again’ homework project: • As a whole school research project to contribute to a School Travel Plan. • As a way to measure change when the school is working on sustainable journeys or promoting active travel. ‘To School, and Back Again’ can be run before and after a programme of change and the difference in responses measured. • To practise numeracy skills in completing tables and to provide data for further learning on presenting data. • As part of cross curricular studies on topics such as journeys, transport or health and physical activity.
