Britain and Immigration SOW - (early settlers-immigration today) 8-12 lessons

This is an updated SOW that I use to teach KS3. It teaches about immigration and links very well to citizenship. The lessons include early settlers- refugee crisis today. A good SOW to teach if your school teaches migration through time. Lessons include: 1. What does it mean to be British? 2. Why do people move countries? (create your own country - takes 2 lessons) 3. Early settlers- (assessment question included) 4. Other immigrants that came to Britain- (chance to extend and research the Windrush further) 5. Positives of immigration 6. The media and immigration 7. Refugee Crisis- modern day immigration 8. Assessment lesson with prep sheet and mark scheme Enjoy

No Simple Solution to Livestock and Climate Change - Article Guide

No Simple Solution to Livestock and Climate Change - Article Guide

"Simply reducing livestock farming in developing countries will neither cut emissions nor benefit the poor, says livestock expert Carlos Seré." This article (included with this resource as a PDF) discusses the issue of climate change and animal agriculture from a non-vegan point of view. The author attempts to bring up points about agriculture and its impact on developing nations as a more complex issue. Thus, requiring a "Third Way" aside from factory farming or simple meat elimination as solutions to this global problem. The reading guide is in PDF, Word and a fillable Word form. This way you can print the handout for students to write on or share it for them to easily fill out on their devices as a Word form. Afterwards you can reflect on the article as a class or consider writing and researching what a "third way" could look like. Should take about 25-30 minutes This article pairs well with the following other resources of mine: 1. COWSPIRACY - The Sustainability Secret 2. Regenerative Agriculture -- A Solution to Climate Change 3. The Impact of Global Meat Production- Article and Worksheet 4. Meat and the Environment - Article and Reading Guide Thanks for looking! Product Design - Idea Generation, Sustainability and Target Market

Product Design - Idea Generation, Sustainability and Target Market

Pupils' love being creative with this hands-on project. Students are tasked with up-cycling a waste Coca-cola bottle to create a new product for a particular target market. In this series of lesson, students are introduced to the benefits of up-cycling in relation to impact on the environment/sustainability. They then draw their own semantic mind-map to come up with product ideas of their own (creative strategy) for a certain target market. They then apply one or more of their ideas as an initial sketch. Resources have clear success criteria and peer assessment. Lesson plan is also included for further clarity. Introduction (fertile question) Class discussion Semantic mind-map task Sketching.annotation Task Peer assessment Plenary/review Optional extension tasks (rapid-prototyping, dragons den style critique) Activities should be spread over 2 lessons If you enjoyed this lesson, please see the other lessons in this or other Product Design series/SOW (where the full iterative design process is covered). In this unit, pupils will gain an understanding into what is product design and the creative process of a designer in the industry.
