#### Composite functions and Inverse functions (new GCSE grade 9-1 content) - 3 LESSONS!

Ideal resource for teaching the new GCSE (Grade 9-1) topic of composite functions and inverse functions. There is enough material for 2 to 3 lessons. Split into four sections. Each has examples that the teacher can model, questions pupils can practice (+ answers!). #### Composite Functions

A series of lessons (2-3) on finding and solving equations of composite functions. It gives the pupils plenty of opportunity to become familiar with the notation of f(x) ect and using this to substitute numbers into an expression. It then gives pupils the chance to find fg(x) ect and then moves onto solving equations suh as fg(x) = gf(x). There are also problem solving tasks to develop pupils learning. All tasks are differentiated, 2-4 levels for each task to make it accessible to all pupils but also to stretch the more able. All tasks have full solutions to it is easy to peer and self assess during the lesson. The lesson includes reasoning and problem solving tasks which ensure that this is suitable for the 9-1 GCSE curriculum. I have used this lesson and pupils were engaged yet challenged.

#### 1-9 GCSE EXAM PAPER ON COMPOSITE AND INVERSE FUNCTIONS

A GCSE paper made up of differentiated questions on composite and inverse functions. This is a 1 hour activity. Step-by-step worked solutions are provided. The questions get harder as you go along.

#### Roots and Turning Points

A series of lessons (2-3) on finding the roots and turning points equations. It recaps the skills required such as solving, factorising and completing the square on a quadratic and then develops these skills to find roots and turning points of an equation. There are plenty of reasoning tasks suitable for the new curriculum and this stretches the more able to understand the properties of graphs. There are also algebraic questions and links it to sketching graphs. All tasks are differentiated to 3 or 4 levels to allow the skill to be practiced and then to stretch and challenge the more able. All tasks have either worked solutions or typed solutions so that the pupils can self mark. This has been used with top set year 11, all pupils engaged and made good progress.

This is designed to be the third lesson on trigonometric graphs looking at the amplitude and period as well as equivalent values. This comes with an excellent matching activity, as well as questions on the slides, excellent teaching material and examples throughout, lesson objectives, answers, a starter and a plenary. 16 slides. #### Geometry: Trigonometry 8 - Drawing basic Trig Graphs (+ Questions)

This is designed as a second lesson on trig graphs, building on the excellent spaghetti lesson 7... this with the previous lesson gives an excellent foundational understanding of trig graphs, which makes all other lessons much easier. 27 slides. This lesson goes into a lot of detail to explain different aspects, and so is content/ teacher heavy with 27 slides, but has lots of little activities and lots of custom animation. This is part of a much larger bundle on trigonometry, which I highly recommend as the lessons are in sequence and do build on each other.
