#### Area & Circumference Board Game

Small group fun with Ratio and Proportions Board Game based on the popular board game SORRY! A fun and engaging way to review or practice area and circumference for middle school students! Game intended for 2-4 players plus one student answer checker. Great for stations and small group activities. Whiteboards or scratch paper recommended. Clock or minute timer needed. How to Play: Students cut out cards and player pieces. Since part of the game play is based on color, if you print out in black and white, have students color the board and player pieces based on a color example before play begins. Groups decide who is the answer checker. This person is in charge of time limits and checking answers. Player pieces begin on ‘start.’ The youngest player goes first. This player draws a card, reads it and has 1 or 2 minutes to find the solution (timing up to teacher discretion). If the player has the correct solution in time, then follow the directions on the card and move that number of spaces. If a game piece lands on the beginning of a slide, the student must slide to the end, except when they are on their own color. Two game pieces cannot occupy the same space at the same time. If a player slides, or lands on the same space as an opponent’s game piece, the player bumps the other player back to start. If a player slides, or lands on the same space as their OWN game piece, then they do not get to move. The first person to get both pieces home wins! #### Investigating pi - Practical activities - 2 lessons

Designed to help your students understand where pi comes from! These two lessons guide students through finding the circumference and areas of circles using commonly-found items. From this, students calculate the value of pi themselves. This provides deeper understanding of the area and circumferences equations which are routinely used. These resources have been particularly useful in the past with some weaker groups who have struggled with the abstract concept of pi and helps to promote their independent learning.

#### STEM WORLD CUP MATHS SPY CAPER. GROUP WORK TEAM BUILDING. END OF YEAR ACTIVITY.

ALL proceeds from this lesson resource will be donated to the charity STECS (Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme UK). So please ask colleagues to purchase rather than “share”. This is an engaging, editable maths STEM activity with a World Cup & Russian spy theme. So it really works well for KS3 pupils who are interested in Football and also those who are totally not! Pupils use a cipher wheel to solve maths questions in each round (differentiated, some easy some more challenging), to find a Russian spy. It requires pupils moving around the school and some support from other colleagues eg receptionist, lab techs-maybe you could even convince the Head teacher to act as the spy? Everyone involved really enjoyed it. This took 2 hours, but could be shortened by removing middle rounds. I have had really good feedback from a variety of teachers at my school who delivered this maths based STEM lesson as non subject specialists (form tutors) during a collapsed timetable week at school with KS3 pupils . This could also be used as team building activity for staff and pupils.

#### Angles in polygons, including exterior and exterior; Angles within circles; Pictures, Videos and Worksheets

This is a bundle of 6 of my resources regarding angles! 5 documents are generators, which means at the click of any button you are able to generate a new worksheet. This provides a calm atmosphere in learning, familiarity in resources for students and can demonstrate progress over time. 3 of these documents are worksheet generators, which require students to find angles within polygons by viewing the polygons themselves. The easiest worksheet just regards triangles and straight lines. The medium worksheet involves quadrilaterals, simple algebra, and straight lines. Whereas the last worksheet involves a multitude of polygons. Each come with a supporting tab call a ‘cheat sheet’, containing an answer for every question listed on a separate bit of paper. These can be individually cut up and folded along the dotted line to act as supporting answers, You can use thesse at your discretion to support the least able, enabling these worksheets to be low access high challenge. Furthermore, another of these documents also requires you to find missing angles and lengths within various polygons by using algebra. Helpfully there is are hints which can either be included, or not included on the sheet, as they are on the sheet’s extremities so can easily can be cut off. Another worksheet regards angles, but this time they are entirely worded question. Testing students knowledge on exterior angles as well as interior angles this time. Finally the last document is a powerpoint involving 5 videos of me hand drawing different circle theorems. Each of the videos are silent but supported by questioning on the screen. This has proved to be a very useful tool in maximising student engagement, and getting the students to come up with the questions and answers themselves whilst watching the video, whilst you are able to help individuals or manage behaviour as required. Each of the videos, has futher suggestion points, and each can be paused and resumed at a pace that suits your class. Please review if you found useful :)

This is a set of ‘live drawings’ of various circle theorem examples, all drawn by hand. Each example has ‘teaching notes’ as a possible suggestion of how it can be used in a classroom. All videos are silent maximising classroom participation, by ensuring students are explaining what’s going on in the videos or silently engaging with the visuals. Please leave a review if you found helpful :) Sub topics include: Angles in the same segment, angle at the centre is twice the angle at the circumference, and angles in alternate segments.
