Angles Matching

Angles Matching

This takes students through simple angles properties (straight line, triangle, full turn etc) to parallel lines to angle properties of polygons and finally to circle theorems. These are not designed to fill a lesson with practice but as starters or plenaries which lead to discussion. The matchings reassure students that their answer is correct or that they may need to check their answers carefully; I have found that the "spare" question is checked far more carefully than with an exercise from a text book.

Measurement Test Generator for Year 9

Measurement Test Generator for Year 9

This resource has been created in Microsoft Excel and is designed to be used as a test or practice test for Year 9 Measurement. Knowledge assessed includes: Perimeter, area, volume, total surface area and conversion between units in one, two and three dimensions. Admittedly, this resource does not comprehensively allow students to demonstrate knowledge at the A level against the Australian Curriculum for Year 9 as there is only one challenging worded problem at the end. I created this resource because I love having students ask for practice questions, but hate writing new questions and their solutions. This resource contains multiple choice questions and short answer questions as well as a solutions tab to each question for printing solutions. All values, and most worded problems are randomly generated from the 'Variables' tab to produce a unique set of questions when F9 (Windows) or fn F9 (Mac) are pressed. Most multiple choice questions will have their answer order randomized. Solutions are generated to match.

CHRISTMAS 2D SHAPE - DATA PROCESSING/GATHERING

CHRISTMAS 2D SHAPE - DATA PROCESSING/GATHERING

CHRISTMAS 2D SHAPE DATA These resources have been produced to encourage pupils to recognise, locate and process a range of 2D shapes and then categorise these shapes into clear data – including TALLY CHARTS, BAR GRAPHS, CARROLL diagrams and VENN diagrams. This way of information gathering shows pupils how a range of data can be displayed. There are two sets of differentiated Data resources to process – Red Roof and Baubles. There is also a third set – Tree that requires pupils to label the charts before they enter the data. This resource is suitable for KS 2 children who are processing a range of data and have knowledge of a range of 2D shapes.

Calculating Missing Angles in a circle - 3 levels of challenge and answers

Calculating Missing Angles in a circle - 3 levels of challenge and answers

Calculate the missing angles in a circle. Sets of questions differentiated three ways. This resource contains three separate worksheets with the answers already worked out for you. This resource requires the children to calculate angles from two angles around a circle and including having right angles and 1 angle worked out for you.

Circle Area Math Stations

Circle Area Math Stations

Your students will discover the formula for the area of the circle and apply this knowledge to various higher-order thinking problems. These stations are perfect to get your students delving into the area of circles. The Following Stations are Included: • Discover Circle Area: Students will cut and paste a circle into a parallelogram, and analyze the area of the parallelogram to discover the formula for the area of a circle. • Calculate Circle Area: Students will use their knowledge of the circle area to calculate various circles, both in exact and approximate forms. • Area Analysis: Students will discover how the area of a circle changes when you scale the radius of a circle. • Geometric Circle Area: Students will use their knowledge of circle area to calculate areas of shaded regions. These would also be great to use as homework or assessments. Each station takes approximately 20-30 minutes. These math centers are aligned with common core 7.G.B.4

Circle Arc Lengths and Sector Areas

Circle Arc Lengths and Sector Areas

This PowerPoint and resource pack goes through the higher level working out of areas under sectors of circles, and the lengths of arcs of circles. There are activities laid out in the presentation to work through, with an extension "keyhole" task for the students that find the work less challenging. Answers for everything are in the "PowerPoint question answers" file.

KS3 Topic Revision Sheets Pack

KS3 Topic Revision Sheets Pack

A set of revision sheets (each including worked examples of exam questions) which can be used in lessons and for pupils to store for revision in the future. Topics covered are area and properties of 2-D shapes, Triangular Numbers, Area and Circumference of a Circle and simplifying and dividing ratios. The sheets are set out in the style of a textbook, but in a much more concise manner, not only reminding pupils of the key points of the topic, but also providing an explanation of the maths behind them. There are strong cross-curricular links with literacy, with pupils encouraged to learn mathematical terminology.

KS3 Maths Revision Pack

KS3 Maths Revision Pack

This is a great value, extremely useful resource to help students with KS3 Maths revision. It contains a glossary of all mathematical terms on the syllabus to help students become familiar with terminology and boost literacy skills, a test on the essential skills they will use in KS3 Maths as well as a handy formulae sheet for areas of 2-D shapes and properties of a circle. The pack also includes teaching/revision sheets for pupils on finding the area and circumference of a circle, ratios (simplifying and dividing an amount into given quantities), 2-D shapes (including Polygons), Triangular Numbers (which covers the properties and finding the nth term of the sequence with worked examples of exam questions). The pack concludes with an investigation teachers can use to show pupils the origin of the triangular numbers sequence.

Circles and Part-circles (Loop Cards)

Circles and Part-circles (Loop Cards)

This download contains four sets of cards. Students choose a set and sort them into order by answering the questions. Then they try to do it faster using a different set, which has a different sort order. Click --> https://tes.com/.../loop-cards for Loop Cards on other topics. --- The cards can either be used by individuals, pairs or small groups. My favourite use is for two students to have different versions of the cards and race each other. They then check their answers, shuffle, swap packs and race again (quickest overall time wins!) Solutions and instructions are included. Cut out card size is approx. 65 x 90 mm.
