These are suitable for KS1 lessons or KS2 intervention and have been differentiated to use with attainment levels as appropriate. The resources can be edited if you wish to personalise them further. Money 1: Children are to draw the coins needed to reach the total. Alternatively they can write the numbers, e.g., 5p+5p+1p. Money 2: Children are to draw the coins needed (in ONLY 1ps, 2ps, etc., depending on the question) to reach the total. Money 3: Children are to draw the coins needed (any value) to reach the total. It may be useful to extend the children’s learning by asking them if there are alternative ways to reach the total. Money 4: Children are to write the number value of the coins, e.g., 16p. Money 5: Children are to write the pence value of the pounds value. It may be useful to explain the decimal point moving two places or multiplying by 100. The following activity in Money 5 is the same but working the opposite way. Money 6: Encourage children to show their working and talk you through their thought process. Money 7: Encourage children to make up their own creative questions. Who can challenge their work partner the most? Money 8: Children have to halve the “Old Price” to come up with the “New Price”. This could be extended further by telling the children they have a “three quarters off sale” and encouraging them to halve the original price then halve again to find the new price. Money 9: Children have to add together the coins then write the number value in the price tags.

#### Can I afford it? Up to £1. Basic money sense / life skills peg cards. ASD/SEN

Cards show British coins up to £1 in value, stating “I have…” Underneath is a statement saying how much an item costs. Learners need to count the coins and decide whether they can afford the item. Many learners with ASD / SEN struggle with money sense and the idea of whether an item is affordable or not. This activity could be extended to ask how much change the student would receive if the item is affordable, or alternatively, how much more money they would need. Designed as an independent workstation task for learners with autism but could also be used in a small group. Learners use clothes pegs to answer the question yes / no to make the task more interactive and to focus those who find sitting and writing to be difficult.

#### Y2 Maths Weekly Planning: COMPLETE YEAR (follows WRM small steps guidance)

This is a complete set of planning for the whole year. It follows the White Rose maths small steps and guidance and makes direct reference to them. It also makes direct reference to the Interim Framework (2018) to ensure that evidence can be collected alongside. I have also included my Interim Framework SMART/PPT and workbooks. I use this as Summer Block 2 just before SATs as revision and evidence gathering. I have also included an element of continuous provision (especially Autumn term plans where the activities are intended to be more fluid) as this is how I deliver the curriculum, this may not suit everyone. Thank you for viewing :-)

#### Theme Park Challenge - Maths

A good “Final Week” style activity which can last over several sessions or be finished in an afternoon. On sale for this final week of the term. Enjoy the Summer! Everything included - just add dice! This is a roleplay experience for children, aimed at Years 4 and above. Using squared paper and the instructions contained within, children design their own Theme park, use dice to generate the number of visitors, and see how much they made. Added problems such as rides not working add variation to each of the five days. Each ride has its own excitement rating and this means that children need to build a balanced park to fit the tastes of everyone. The game guides children and yourself through each of the steps with clear examples given for each step too. Mathematically this requires HTO x O skills, as well as some basic area knowledge (understanding that a footprint of 3x3 for a ride would mean 3 squares by 3 squares, so 9 squares). Custom-made games to fit a theme can be commissioned on request - get in touch!

#### STEM WORLD CUP MATHS SPY CAPER. GROUP WORK TEAM BUILDING. END OF YEAR ACTIVITY.

ALL proceeds from this lesson resource will be donated to the charity STECS (Scottish Terrier Emergency Care Scheme UK). So please ask colleagues to purchase rather than “share”. This is an engaging, editable maths STEM activity with a World Cup & Russian spy theme. So it really works well for KS3 pupils who are interested in Football and also those who are totally not! Pupils use a cipher wheel to solve maths questions in each round (differentiated, some easy some more challenging), to find a Russian spy. It requires pupils moving around the school and some support from other colleagues eg receptionist, lab techs-maybe you could even convince the Head teacher to act as the spy? Everyone involved really enjoyed it. This took 2 hours, but could be shortened by removing middle rounds. I have had really good feedback from a variety of teachers at my school who delivered this maths based STEM lesson as non subject specialists (form tutors) during a collapsed timetable week at school with KS3 pupils . This could also be used as team building activity for staff and pupils.
